BMW iX2 ABS Warning: Lateral Sensor Issues & Solutions

Thanks for the detailed response! At 108868 KM on the clock, I was worried this might be a serious issue. Just took it for service last month too. I've noticed it mainly happens during startup, no other warning lights or weird sounds when braking. Everything else seems normal, but it's definitely concerning since the ABS is pretty crucial for safety. I've scheduled an appointment with the service center next week. Really hoping it won't be as expensive as your repair! The lateral acceleration sensor seemed the likely culprit based on my research, but hearing about your control unit issue makes me think I should get it properly diagnosed first.

Hey again! Thanks for those extra details. You know, hearing about your symptoms, especially that it happens during startup with no other warning lights, actually makes me think it might not be as severe as my control unit situation. My issue showed up while driving and had multiple warning lights. Looking back at my old iX3's service history, I actually had a false alarm once around the 90,000 KM mark that sounds pretty similar to what you're describing. Turned out to be just a dirty sensor connection, much cheaper fix than my later control unit drama. The mechanic just cleaned the connections and recalibrated the system, cost me about 150 Euro total. Since you mentioned getting it serviced recently, I wonder if something got knocked loose or if there's some residual moisture affecting the connections. The lateral acceleration sensor could still be the issue, but I'd put my money on something simpler based on what you're describing. Quick tip though, when you take it in next week, ask them to check the wiring harness connections first. Could save you some cash if it's just a connection issue like I had early on. Let me know what they find, I'm curious to know if it's similar to what I experienced!

Thanks so much for sharing those insights! That's actually really reassuring to hear about your false alarm experience. I hadn't even considered it could be something as simple as a dirty sensor connection. You might be onto something about the recent service, maybe something did get disturbed during the maintenance work. I'll definitely ask them to check the wiring harness connections first when I take it in next week. Would be such a relief if it turns out to be a simple fix like yours was. Really appreciate the tip about getting them to look at that before jumping to more expensive solutions. The 150 Euro sounds way better than a thousand! I'll update you once I get it checked out. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experiences, it's helped calm my worries quite a bit. These high-tech EVs can be pretty intimidating when something goes wrong, so it's great to hear from someone who's been through similar issues.

Hello there! A while ago, my keyfob stopped working on my bmw e46 316i. I have already replace the battery on my keys, but still no luck. I am also unable to register the keyfob to my car. After reading the faultcodes, I get code 000002 in my central electronics. This is a fuse problem with central locking. I have checked fuse 49, 52 and 60, and they are all intact. Is there anything else that could cause this issue

Check the keyfob's receiver module in your car, as it might be malfunctioning or have a poor connection. Inspect the wiring and connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion. If the issue persists, consider having a professional diagnose the receiver module. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!

Start by checking the battery condition and ensuring it's fully charged, as a weak battery can prevent the immobilizer from functioning properly. If the battery is fine, inspect the key and ignition switch for any signs of wear or damage. If these checks don't resolve the issue, it might be necessary to have a professional diagnose the immobilizer system. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you have any updates!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2022 BMW iX3 (actually traded it recently for an i4). With some experience working on EVs, I can relate to your ABS concerns. My warning light also popped up out of nowhere. Took it to my regular workshop and turned out the control unit was completely shot. They had to replace the entire unit, wasn't cheap, set me back about 1000 Euro. The whole thing took about two days to fix since they had to program the new unit. Could be the same issue you're facing, but it'd help if you could share: Any other warning lights showing up? Does it happen when driving or right at startup? Any unusual noises when braking? Drop these details and I'll try to help more based on my experience.
