Thanks for sharing that info! Really helpful to hear about your experience. Quick question, would you mind sharing how much you ended up paying for the fix? Also curious if you've had any other issues pop up since the repair? Just trying to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise, and wondering if the new module has been working properly for you. Thanks again!

Hey again! Happy to help! Yes, the repair worked out great. I paid 110 € for the complete fix, theyaged to sort out the emergency battery without needing to replace the entire module, which was a relief for my wallet! Since the repair, everything's been working perfectly, no more error messages or issues with the emergency call system. I've put about 5,000 km on the car since then and haven't had a single problem with the system. The emergency call function is back to its normal duration, and the battery's holding up just fine. Honestly, it was a pretty straightforward fix once I found the right mechanic. Just a heads up, might be worth getting it checked soon since your mileage is similar to what mine was when the issue popped up. Better to deal with it before it completely fails, you know? Let me know if you need any other info!

Thanks so much! Finally got it sorted out yesterday. Went to a certified shop and you were right, it was the emergency call battery. Ended up paying a bit more, around 150 €, since they had to replace the whole module in my case. They said the wiring was showing signs of wear too, so better safe than sorry. The mechanic was actually super helpful and showed me everything they were doing. Got it done in about 3 hours, and they even gave the rest of the car a quick check-up. Turns out everything else is running fine, which was a relief. Much better experience than my last mechanic, I must say! The emergency call system is working perfectly now, tested it out in the parking lot before leaving the shop. Thanks again for helping me figure this out. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, made me feel much more confident about getting it fixed!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2020 BMW i4 last month. The emergency battery was completely drained, though my symptoms were slightly different, I got warning messages on the display. After taking it to the garage, they diagnosed it as a faulty emergency call module battery. It's a separate unit from the main car battery, and when it fails, it needs complete replacement. The technician mentioned this is a known issue in some electric BMW models once they pass 150,000 km. In my case, they had to replace the entire emergency call module as the battery isn't sold separately. It wasn't a complex repair, took about 2 hours, but it's definitely something that needs professional attention since it's a safety system. The good news is it wasn't a serious mechanical issue affecting the car's core functions. Just make sure you get it fixed soon since it's a critical safety feature. They told me these batteries typically last 4-5 years or about 160,000 km, so your timeline fits. Hope this helps with your decision.
