Thanks for sharing your experience! That wiring harness issue sounds very similar to what I'm dealing with. My convertible top's been acting up in exactly the same way. Would you mind telling me how much they charged you for the repair? Also, have you had any other issues pop up with the top since getting it fixed? Just want to know what I might be in for. Thanks!

Hey again! Just wanted to follow up, I actually had my car checked by the mechanic last week, and you'll be glad to know it was exactly what I suspected. It turned out to be a defective hall sensor in the convertible top, which theyaged to fix without too much hassle. The total bill came to 95 € for sorting out what turned out to be a faulty cable and plug connection. Since the repair, the top's been working like a charm, smooth operation all the way, no more stopping mid-way, and those annoying error messages are gone. It's such a relief to have it working properly again! I haven't had any issues since the fix, and honestly, it feels like it's working better than ever. The repair was definitely worth every penny, and I'd say if you're experiencing similar symptoms, you should get it checked out. These issues tend to get worse if left unattended, and you definitely don't want to risk damaging the whole mechanism. Hope this helps with your decision making! Let me know if you need any other info!

Thanks so much for the detailed follow-up! Really good to hear you got it sorted without breaking the bank. I actually took mine to a mechanic yesterday after reading your first message. Funny enough, it was also a wiring issue in my case, had some damaged cables near the control module. Cost me a bit more than yours, around 150 for parts and labor, but totally worth it to have the top working properly again. The mechanic was really thorough and showed me exactly what was wrong. Even gave me some tips about maintenance to prevent future issues. The top's now working perfectly, no more stopping halfway or those annoying error lights. Should've done this weeks ago instead of worrying about it! Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me make the decision to get it checked out. Sometimes you just need to hear from someone who's been through the same thing!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2014 BMW 5 diesel. The convertible top would stop out of nowhere and throw those same error messages. Initially thought it was the sensor too, but when I took it to the garage, turned out it was a damaged wiring harness and loose connection in the main control module. The cables had worn down from constant movement, and some connectors weren't making proper contact. It wasn't a super serious issue, but definitely needed fixing to prevent further damage to the top mechanism. The mechanic showed me where the cables were frayed, really an eye-opener. If you're getting those flashing lights and intermittent stops, I'd recommend getting it checked soon. While my issue was wiring-related, these symptoms can point to various problems in the system. Better to address it before it gets worse. Worth mentioning that this wasn't just a quick fix, the mechanic needed special diagnostic tools to properly identify the fault codes and repair the wiring.
