Hi, thanks for your quick reply. My mileage is 251471 km and the last service was a year ago. It is a 6-cylinder model. As I drive a lot on highways, it is of course possible that the intake tract is contaminated with oily residue. Thanks for the tip about the garage!

No problem, that's what we're here for! First of all, I would advise you to have the car's fault memory read out before you go to the workshop. You can often narrow down where the problem lies and what the possible fault could be. With your high mileage, it could really be that the intake tract is dirty. This was the case with my car and after cleaning and servicing, everything worked perfectly again. The costs for this were also manageable. However, I wouldn't rule out a cylinder damaged by knocking combustion at this stage, as your symptoms could indicate this. It is also possible that the knocking combustion is only a result of the dirty intake manifold and the actual problem lies elsewhere. So first have the error code read out and then see what happens. Good luck and give us an update when you know more!

In any case, thanks for the advice! I'm curious to see what the fault memory says. I'll get back to you as soon as I have more information. First of all, thanks for the quick and helpful reply. Bye and see you soon!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2008 BMW 2 series. I'm certainly no car expert, but I do have a bit of experience as I've had a few problems with my car before. When I went to the garage, I was told that it was oily residue in the intake tract that was causing the problem. The service cost me 475 euros and the problem was fixed. However, it would probably be better if we knew a bit more about your car and the specific problem. E.g. model variant, mileage etc. so we can help you better.
