Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with right now. I'm going to look into getting it checked at a certified service center like you suggested. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been working smoothly since they fixed it, or have you noticed any other quirks? Thanks again for the help!

Hey again! Happy to update you! I actually got it all sorted at the certified service center. They fixed both the display and audio issues completely, turns out it was indeed the control module like I suspected. The total bill came to 725 € for the display unit replacement and reprogramming work. Since the repair, everything's been working perfectly, no more flickering, no black screens, and the audio system is crystal clear now. It's been about two months, and I haven't noticed any quirks or problems at all. The sound system is actually working better than ever! I know it wasn't cheap, but I think it was worth getting it done properly at the certified center. They really knew what they were doing with these hybrid systems. Plus, they gave me a warranty on the repair work, which gives me peace of mind. Let me know how you get on with yours. Hope you get it sorted soon! Cheers!

Thanks for all the detailed info! I actually just got back from the certified service center today. You were spot on about everything, they diagnosed the same control module issue. My bill ended up being a bit higher at 850 € since they had to replace some additional wiring that had gotten damaged. I'm just relieved it's all sorted now. The whole repair took about four days, but they gave me a loaner car, so that wasn't too bad. The display is working perfectly now, no more flickering or blackouts. The sound system is crisp and clear, just like when the car was new. The mechanic explained everything really well and even showed me the faulty parts. They also gave me a 2-year warranty on the repair, which is great. I'm glad I followed your advice about going to the certified center instead of trying to save money at an independent shop. Thanks again for helping me make the right decision. It's good to have this headache behind me! Take care!

Hey there! I had a very similar issue with my 2020 BMW 5 Series Hybrid last month. The display would flicker and go dark out of nowhere, along with the audio cutting out completely. Turned out to be a faulty control module in the infotainment system. Had to get the main unit replaced as the problem was causing system-wide communication issues. The repair wasn't a quick fix, took them three days to get it sorted since they had to reprogram the new module and sync it with the car's systems. Definitely not something you can ignore, as it can affect other electronic components if left unchecked. I suggest taking it straight to a BMW certified service center since they have the right diagnostic tools and access to original parts. Better not to risk it with independent shops for these complex electronic issues, especially in newer hybrid models. Hope this helps with your decision. Best regards
