Thanks for sharing your experience! My car's at 164,585 KM since my last service, and I'm actually getting the same symptoms you described. Been getting error code P0172 which also points to the fuel system running rich. Really helpful to know about the injector, makes total sense given what's happening. The issue definitely gets worse when the engine warms up, especially during highway driving. Will get it checked out by my mechanic right away. Don't want to risk any further damage, especially since these engines are pretty sensitive. Thanks for the heads up about the potential cost too, at least I know what to expect now!

Hey again! Just saw your reply about the P0172 code and symptoms getting worse during warm-ups. That's exactly what happened with my 3 Series too! Mine was at about 170,000 KM when the issues started, so we're in the same ballpark mileage-wise. Quick tip from my experience, when my mechanic replaced my injector, they recommended doing a full fuel system cleaning too. It cost a bit extra (around 100 Euro), but it made a huge difference in how the car ran afterward. These direct injection engines can get pretty gunked up over time. Also, while they're in there, might be worth having them check the O2 sensors too. My mechanic mentioned they often go hand in hand with rich fuel mixture issues on these BMWs. I didn't need to replace mine, but it's something to keep in mind. Let us know how it goes with your mechanic! Always good to share these experiences since quite a few of us seem to run into similar issues with these engines. The good news is that once it's fixed, it should run like new again, mine's been perfect for the past year.

Really appreciate all this detailed info! You're spot on about getting a full system check, I just booked an appointment with my mechanic for tomorrow morning. They mentioned they'll do a complete diagnostic including checking those O2 sensors you mentioned. After hearing about your experience, I'll definitely go for that fuel system cleaning too. Makes perfect sense given the mileage. It's actually a relief to hear your car's been running great for a year after fixing these issues. Was getting worried this might turn into some recurring nightmare, but seems like a proper fix should sort it out. The cost sounds reasonable too, especially if it prevents bigger problems down the line. Thanks again for all the advice, really helped me understand what I'm dealing with. Will definitely update the thread once I get it sorted. These kinds of discussions are super helpful when dealing with specific model issues. Here's hoping my 1 Series will be running as smoothly as your 3 Series soon!

Hey there! I've got some experience working on cars, and I actually faced something really similar with my 2013 BMW 3 Series last year. Those symptoms sound exactly like what I dealt with, rough running, power loss, and terrible fuel consumption. Turned out one of my injectors was faulty. Took it to my regular workshop, and they diagnosed it after running some tests. Had to replace the defective injector, which set me back about 515 Euro, but it fixed all those issues. The car's been running perfectly since then. Definitely worth getting it checked soon, faulty injectors can cause more expensive problems if left too long. Mind sharing if you're getting any specific error codes? Also, does it happen more when the engine's cold or warm? This could help narrow things down, as these BMWs have some common patterns with injector issues.
