Thanks for sharing your experience! This really helps since it matches my symptoms so closely. Did you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole fix? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the repair, or have you noticed any other issues pop up?

Hey again! Yes, I can tell you exactly what I paid, it was 195 € to fix the steering angle sensor coding. And I'm happy to report that since getting it sorted, my car's been running perfectly! No more warning lights, no heavy steering, and the wheel's steady as can be. It's honestly such a relief. The mechanic did a great job and clearly knew what they were dealing with. Looking back, I was probably making it a bigger deal in my head than it actually was. These BMWs are pretty complex machines with all their sensors and systems, but once you get the right fix, they're solid. So yeah, everything's been smooth sailing since the repair, no weird issues or warning lights coming back. I can actually enjoy driving again without worrying about every little shake or bump. If you're experiencing the same problems, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out. The peace of mind is worth it!

Thanks so much for all the details! I actually took your advice and got it checked out yesterday. You were spot on, it was the steering angle sensor. They found some corrupted coding and sorted it out pretty quickly. Ended up paying around 220 for the whole thing, which wasn't as bad as I'd feared. The best part is my car's running like new again! No more warning lights lighting up my dash like a Christmas tree, and the steering's back to being nice and smooth. What a relief! The mechanic I found was actually really good, explained everything clearly and fixed it within a couple of hours. Funny how we work ourselves up sometimes over car problems, right? I was imagining all sorts of expensive repairs, but it turned out to be relatively straightforward. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it gave me the push I needed to get it sorted. Time to actually enjoy driving my BMW again!

I had nearly identical issues with my 2018 BMW 2 Series diesel last summer. The multiple warning lights (ESP, ABS, and brake) were definitely concerning, and the heavy steering was a real pain. Took it to the garage and they confirmed it was indeed the steering angle sensor that was faulty. The coding was corrupted, which caused the whole stability system to go haywire. While it seems scary with all those warning lights, it wasn't actually a major mechanical problem. In my case, they had to recalibrate the sensor and reset the system. The job took about two hours. The technician mentioned that these sensors can sometimes get confused after hitting deep potholes or if the wheel alignment is off for too long. I'd definitely recommend getting it checked soon though, driving with incorrect steering angle readings can affect your car's stability control systems. Best to have a proper diagnosis rather than waiting for it to potentially get worse. Hope this helps with your decision. Let us know what you find out.
