BMW 1 Series Multiple System Failures, ABS/ASC Issues

Help needed: 2016 BMW 1 series with multiple system failures Having issues with my 2016 BMW 1 series petrol. The ASC and ABS systems aren't working, experiencing jerking during acceleration, and getting error codes. The ASC service warning is on. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Looking for experiences with repairs and what the actual issue turned out to be. What did your workshop diagnose and fix? Any input appreciated.

Hey there! I have some experience working on BMWs, having owned a 2018 BMW 2 Series and previously a 3 Series. I actually faced almost identical symptoms with my 2018 2 Series. The ASC and warning lights came on, and I had that annoying jerking during acceleration. Took it to my workshop and they diagnosed it as a faulty ASC relay. The fix was pretty straightforward, they replaced the relay and recalibrated the system. Cost me about 90 Euro total and solved all the issues. Before jumping to conclusions though, could you share: How many miles/kilometers on your car? When did these symptoms first appear? Any other warning lights showing up? Might help pinpoint if you're dealing with the same issue I had. These BMWs can be tricky with electrical stuff, but usually it's something relatively simple like a relay or sensor.

Thanks for sharing your experience! My 1 Series has 45000 KM on the clock and just had its service last month. The symptoms actually started about a week ago, pretty suddenly. No other warning lights besides the ASC and ABS ones. Your relay issue sounds quite similar to what I'm experiencing. That's somewhat reassuring to hear it might be something relatively simple and not too expensive to fix. Really appreciate the input, I'll mention the relay possibility when I take it to the workshop.

Oh hey again! Thanks for those extra details about your 1 Series. You know what's funny, when my 2 Series had these issues, they also popped up really suddenly, just like yours. And it was also right after a service, which initially had me worried that something got messed up during the maintenance. Just to add to what I mentioned before about my relay experience, I remembered another small detail that might be helpful. Before I got it fixed, I noticed the issues were actually worse when the engine was cold, especially that jerking during acceleration. Did you notice anything similar with yours? The fact that your car's showing the exact same warning combo (ASC + ABS) as mine did makes me even more convinced it could be that relay. The good news is that when my workshop did the fix, I was back on the road the same day. They had the part in stock and the whole job took maybe two hours tops. Do let us know what your workshop finds, always good to share these experiences for other BMW owners who might run into the same thing!

I'll continue as (the original poster): Thanks for that additional insight! Actually yes, now that you mention it, the jerking is definitely more noticeable during cold starts in the morning. I hadn't connected those dots before, but it's exactly what I'm experiencing. That's really helpful to know about the quick turnaround time too, I was worried I might be without my car for days. I've booked it in for tomorrow morning, and I feel much better prepared now knowing what to discuss with the mechanic. Your experience really helps, especially since our symptoms match so closely. I'll definitely update here once I get the diagnosis and repair sorted. These electrical gremlins can be such a pain in modern cars, but at least it sounds like it won't be a wallet-destroying fix. Thanks again for all the detailed info, it's been super helpful!
