Thanks for sharing your experience! That definitely sounds like what I'm dealing with. My local shop is booked solid for the next couple weeks, but at least I know what to expect now. Would you mind telling me what the damage was to your wallet? Also, any other electrical gremlins pop up since the repair? Just wanna make sure I budget for any potential follow-up issues.

Hey again! Good news, got the car back from the mechanic last week, and all those annoying electrical issues have disappeared completely! The battery was indeed shot and causing all sorts of chaos with the electrical systems. Total bill came to 290 € for the new battery and labor, which honestly wasn't as bad as I was expecting. The overvoltage warnings that were driving me nuts are completely gone now. The car starts up like a dream, no more of that worrying sluggish start-up nonsense. Been driving it daily for over a week, and I'm happy to report zero electrical gremlins have shown up since the fix. My 3 Series is running just like it should now. The mechanic mentioned the battery was heavily discharged and definitely needed replacing. Sometimes these BMWs can be pretty sensitive with their electrical systems, but once you get the root cause sorted, they're usually fine. If your symptoms are similar to what I had, you might be looking at roughly the same repair costs. Definitely worth getting it sorted though, these electrical issues can get worse if left alone.

Thanks for the update! That's such a relief to hear everything worked out well for you, and the cost wasn't too crazy. I've finally gotten my car checked out too, and you'll never believe it, almost the exact same situation! Took it to a specialist mechanic who was super thorough. He spotted the dying battery right away and also found some corroded connections that needed cleaning. The whole job came to about 350 with parts and labor, a bit more than yours but still way better than I'd feared. Just picked it up yesterday and what a difference! No more Christmas tree dashboard, and it starts up perfectly every time. The mechanic even showed me the old battery, it was in pretty rough shape. Guess I should've dealt with this sooner, but at least it's sorted now. Thanks again for sharing your experience, really helped me know what to expect and stopped me from panicking too much about potential costs. Time to enjoy my properly functioning BMW again!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2012 BMW 3 Series diesel last winter. Started with multiple warning lights and system errors popping up out of nowhere. The symptoms matched yours perfectly, sluggish starts and electrical gremlins everywhere. Took it to my garage and it turned out the battery was on its last legs, but it wasn't just a simple battery failure. The voltage regulator in the alternator was also faulty, which meant the battery wasn't charging properly. This explained all the overvoltage warnings. They had to replace both the battery and alternator. It was quite a serious job because these electrical issues can cascade into problems with other systems if left unchecked. The alternator replacement was particularly tricky due to its location in the engine bay. Since the repair, the car's been running perfectly, no warning lights, strong starts, and all systems working as they should. Based on your symptoms, I'd suggest getting both your battery and alternator checked. These issues tend to go hand in hand, especially at that mileage. Just make sure you find a garage that specializes in BMW electrical systems. It's not a job for a general mechanic.
