Black smoke and loss of power in Peugeot 307 petrol engine: suspected defective injection valve

Hello folks! I have a problem with my Peugeot 307 gasoline engine from 2009 with 93741KM run. When accelerating, black smoke comes out of the exhaust, the check engine light comes on and the car takes longer to start. The engine power has dropped and the engine runs rough, there is jerking when accelerating, sometimes the car won't start and stutters or jerks at idle. I assume that the problem is related to a faulty injection valve. Have any of you ever had similar problems? What have you done about it and what was your experience with the mechanic? I would be grateful for any experience and tips!

Hi. Had similar symptoms on my 2012 Peugeot 308, was pretty sure it was a faulty fuel injector but the mechanic found it was actually a plug/cable connection issue. They had to replace it and after it was done, my car ran like a dream. It wasn't as serious as I originally thought and I haven't had any more problems with it. So see if it could be that for you too! Good luck with that!

Hey, sure, no problem. The repair cost me €155 at the time. They fixed the fault with the plug/cable connection and that was it. Since then, my car has been running really well. And as far as the injection valve is concerned: after the mechanic had a look over it, there was no more problem. So far, nothing similar or different has happened, everything is perfect! Keep your fingers crossed that it works just as well for you!
