Recently my car has been smoking black from the exhaust when accelerating and the check engine lights up. In addition, the engine runs irregularly, jerks when accelerating, consumes a lot of fuel and has a strong exhaust smell. Even when idling, the engine sometimes just stalls. I had thought that it might be the low pressure fuel system sensor as it is not working. Has anyone had similar problems? Can you tell me what your experience with the mechanic's repair was like? Hi, I drive a 2017 Opel Insignia and had a similar problem. In my case, the cable connections were defective. Even my check engine light kept showing on. It was the same, the black smoke when accelerating and this jerky driving really worried me. It was a kind of serious problem because such cable defects can affect the complete engine management system. It was necessary to change these cables. My garage had to replace the cable connections on the fuel system and the engine management system. As you can see, you are probably in for a thorough inspection of your car. Since I've been to the mechanic, it's been running like clockwork again, no kidding. The problem with the low-pressure fuel system sensor that you mentioned was also fixed.
