Audi TT Fuel Injection Issues Cause Rough Idle & Stalls

My TT starts acting up with rough idling and poor performance recently. The engine sometimes stalls when idle and burns way more fuel than usual. Feels like its losing power too. Had some bad experiences with mechanics before, so wanted to check if anyone dealt with similar symptoms, possibly related to injection issues? Car specs: 2019 Audi TT gasoline engine, 175355km on the clock. Did you get this fixed and what was the actual problem?

Had similar issues with a 2016 Audi A5 gasoline engine. The symptoms matched exactly, rough idle, increased fuel consumption, and significant power loss. The diagnosis revealed dirty fuel injectors were the core issue. The repair involved removing and ultrasonically cleaning all injectors, plus replacing two that were beyond salvation. The fuel system required a complete flush to prevent future contamination. This is actually a common performance issue with direct injection engines. The problem was serious enough that continuing to drive would have led to more severe engine damage. Poor quality fuel and extended service intervals often contribute to injector deposits. The repair took two full days but resolved all symptoms, proper idle, restored engine performance, and normal fuel consumption returned. To prevent reoccurrence, switching to high-quality fuel and not letting the tank run too low helps maintain injector health. Regular fuel system cleaning as part of maintenance schedule is also crucial for these engines. This type of injection system repair needs specialized diagnostic equipment and expertise. Not a DIY job, requires proper tools and thorough knowledge of direct injection systems.

Thanks for sharing your experience with injector issues. I dealt with a misfire problem on my TT last year that showed similar symptoms. Your repair approach sounds spot on, cleaning and replacement of faulty injectors usually fixes these gasoline engine problems. Just curious, do you remember the total cost for the repair work? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other issues come up?

After getting the injection system properly diagnosed and repaired, my vehicle has been running perfectly for the past 8 months. The total repair cost was 515 Euro, which included cleaning the clogged injectors and replacing the defective one. This resolved all the emissions and performance issues completely. The engine now maintains steady idle, fuel consumption is back to normal, and power delivery is smooth again. No more misfires or rough running since the fix. Regular maintenance and using quality fuel has helped prevent any recurrence of injection problems. This repair proved to be a worthwhile investment in keeping the gasoline engine running optimally. Proper diagnosis and repair by a qualified technician is crucial for these direct injection systems. While the cost might seem high initially, preventing further engine damage makes it cost-effective in the long run.

Thanks for the input. After reading about your experiences, I took my TT to a specialist garage last week. The mechanic found similar injection issues, two injectors were completely clogged and the others needed thorough cleaning. Total bill came to 480 Euro for cleaning, replacing the bad injectors, and flushing the fuel system. The repair took about a day and a half but the vehicle runs like new now. No more rough idling or engine stalling, and fuel consumption is back to normal. My previous misfire problems were likely early warning signs of these injection issues. Really glad I got it sorted before causing more serious engine damage. Will definitely stick to quality fuel and regular maintenance from now on.
