Thanks for sharing your experience with the brake light issue. Mine has been working fine since the repair. The mechanic did find some corrosion in the brake switch connector which they cleaned up during installation. Have you had the repair done yet? Would be interested to know what they charged you. My brake switch replacement came to 180 Euro including parts and labor. The electrical issue was resolved completely and havent seen any brake system warnings since. Did they spot anything else while doing the work? Sometimes these electrical problems can be related to other components.

Actually the brake light switch problem turned out to be much simpler than expected. When checking the brake switch connector, the mechanic found no real electrical issue, the connector just needed a thorough cleaning to remove minor corrosion. No brake switch replacement was necessary. After cleaning the contacts and ensuring proper connection, all brake light functionality returned to normal. The vehicle safety warnings cleared up immediately. The automotive switch diagnostics showed everything working correctly after this simple fix. Best part was there was no charge since it was just basic maintenance cleaning, not a faulty component requiring replacement. Much better outcome than paying for unnecessary parts. Its worth having connections checked first before assuming switches need replacing. The mechanic did inspect the surrounding wiring harness and other brake system components while there but found everything else in good working order. No other electrical issues were detected. Just goes to show sometimes the simplest solution is the right one.

Got everything sorted with my brake light problem last week. The mechanic found a failing brake switch just like you mentioned. Total repair cost was 165 Euro which seemed fair considering they also cleaned the connectors and checked the entire brake system wiring. The repair was quick, took about 45 minutes. They showed me the old switch which had visible wear on the contact points. Since the replacement, all brake light functions are working perfectly and those annoying dashboard warnings are gone. While checking the brake switch, they also spotted a slightly loose tail light connector which they secured at no extra charge. The whole experience was much better than my previous mechanic who wanted to replace multiple components without proper diagnosis. I appreciate the helpful advice about getting the wiring checked. Having working brake lights is crucial for vehicle safety, so Im glad this turned out to be a straightforward fix.

Had the exact same brake light issue with my 2009 Audi A4. The brake switch failure caused intermittent brake light problems and dashboard warnings. Initially thought it was just a tail light bulb, but the error messages kept returning. A faulty brake switch can cause these symptoms, and its actually quite common in these models. The switch is located above the brake pedal assembly and monitors pedal movement to activate the brake lights. When it fails, the vehicle safety system triggers warnings since it cant properly detect brake pedal position. The repair is straightforward for any qualified mechanic. In my case, the brake switch replacement took under an hour. The new switch fixed both the error messages and restored proper brake light function. Its important to use OEM parts for this repair since aftermarket switches can cause compatibility issues with the cars electronics. This isnt a serious mechanical problem, but it needs fixing since properly functioning brake lights are essential for vehicle safety. The repair is much simpler than many other electrical issues these models can have. Make sure the mechanic checks the wiring harness connection too, as sometimes corrosion at the connector can cause similar symptoms.
