Audi S6 PCV Fault Causing Power Loss and Smoke Issues

Hey, looking for input on my 2013 Audi S6 (gas, 19748 KM). Been dealing with reduced power and check engine light, plus seeing smoke under heavy acceleration. Pretty sure its related to a PCV issue. Anyone had similar symptoms? Mainly wondering about repair costs and what to expect at the shop since my last mechanic visit wasnt great. Any tips or experiences with similar ventilation system problems would be super helpful.

Had similar symptoms on my 2010 Audi S4 last winter. The PCV valve malfunction started with light smoke during acceleration, followed by reduced engine performance. The check engine light pointed to crankcase ventilation issues. The repair required replacing the complete PCV system, including valve housing and breather tubes. The original valve was clogged with oil residue, causing excessive crankcase pressure. This is a known weak point in these engines and can lead to serious complications if left unattended. The maintenance took about 4 hours at the shop. They found oil contamination in the intake manifold, which also needed cleaning. Without proper repair, these symptoms can worsen and potentially damage other engine components. Worth noting that regular oil changes help prevent PCV system failures. Post-repair, its important to check oil consumption more frequently and watch for any smoke during cold starts. The repair fully resolved the power loss and smoke issues. This is definitely not a problem to ignore, the PCV system plays a crucial role in engine health and emissions control.

Thanks for sharing your S4 experience. Dealing with the same smoke and power issues on my S6 now. The symptoms match exactly what you described, and its good to know the PCV system was the culprit in your case. My local shop just gave me a vague diagnosis, so its helpful to hear a real fix story. Quick follow up, do you recall the repair cost for your PCV valve maintenance and the intake manifold cleaning? Also curious if youve had any related issues pop up since the fix was done. The oil leak and emissions problems on mine seem to be getting worse by the week, so I want to make sure I address everything while its in the shop.

Just had my car back from the mechanic last week and can confirm the crankcase ventilation valve malfunction has been completely resolved. Total cost came to 360 Euro for the repair work, which included replacing the valve and cleaning the intake system. The maintenance cleared up all those annoying symptoms, no more smoke issues during acceleration and power is back to normal. Emissions are within proper specs now too. The fix was definitely worth every cent, as these ventilation system problems can spiral into bigger engine troubles if left unchecked. Since the repair, everything has been running smoothly. No related issues have surfaced, and oil consumption is back to normal levels. Just keeping an eye on regular maintenance intervals now to prevent future problems. The mechanic recommended checking oil levels monthly, which is a good practice for catching any potential issues early. If your symptoms are getting worse, definitely get it addressed soon. These ventilation system issues tend to compound and can affect multiple engine components if they continue unchecked.

After getting multiple recommendations, I finally took my S6 to a new mechanic yesterday. The diagnosis confirmed exactly what was discussed, a faulty PCV system causing the ventilation issues. The smoke during acceleration and power loss were classic symptoms I should have addressed sooner. The maintenance bill came to 420 Euro, covering the valve replacement, thorough cleaning of the intake manifold, and fixing a small emissions-related leak they discovered during inspection. More than I hoped for, but the thorough work was worth it. Got the car back today and the difference is night and day. No more smoke, power is completely restored, and the engine runs smoother overall. The mechanic walked me through the entire repair process and showed me the old clogged valve, it was in terrible shape. Really glad I found this forum and got proper guidance before the problem got worse. Will definitely stay on top of regular maintenance checks from now on to prevent similar issues.
