Thanks for the detailed response about your S6 issues. I had similar problems last year with my wheel bearings and tire monitoring system. The repair fixed multiple problems at once, the shaking disappeared, ABS started working normally, and no more false pressure loss warnings. Would you mind sharing what the repair cost in your case? Also curious if any other problems showed up since getting it fixed? Just want to make sure I catch any potential related issues early.

Just had this fixed last month. The tire pressure sensor and valve replacement cost 280 Euro total. The tire monitoring system works perfectly now, no more false pressure loss alerts popping up on the dashboard. The faulty valve was causing incorrect readings even though the tire pressure was normal. The mechanic found the main issue was a defective tire sensor valve that needed complete replacement. Since the repair, the tire monitoring system has been working exactly as it should. No other problems have surfaced, and the system accurately reports when there is actual pressure loss. If your symptoms match what I experienced, getting the tire sensor checked should resolve those annoying false warnings. Worth noting that worn or damaged tire sensors often trigger ABS warnings too, so fixing one usually resolves both issues.

Thanks for the advice. I took my car to the shop yesterday and got everything sorted. The total repair came to 850 Euro, they replaced two tire sensors and the front right wheel bearing. The flat tire warnings have stopped completely and the steering feels smooth again. No more ABS light either. The mechanic showed me the old bearing, it was pretty badly worn which explained the vibration. They also found some corrosion on the tire sensors that was causing the false readings. Everything is working perfectly now and the car drives like new. Much better experience than my last mechanic visit. Glad I got some knowledge from here first so I knew what to expect. Will definitely keep an eye on the tire monitoring system and watch for any early warning signs in the future.

Having experienced similar symptoms with my 2006 Audi A6, this sounds like a faulty tire pressure monitoring system sensor combined with a potential wheel bearing issue. When my tire sensor started malfunctioning, it triggered false low pressure warnings despite properly inflated tires. The heavy steering and wheel shake typically point to a failing wheel bearing, which is a serious safety concern that needs immediate attention. In my case, the ABS warning light was triggered because the wheel speed sensor, which is part of the same assembly as the wheel bearing, was not sending correct signals to the ABS module. The repair required replacing both the faulty tire sensor and the wheel bearing assembly. The tire pressure monitoring system can sometimes malfunction after hitting potholes or due to corrosion. Even with properly inflated tires, a damaged sensor will continue sending incorrect readings to the dashboard. This is not a DIY repair job, as it requires specialized diagnostic equipment to properly identify which wheel bearing is failing and to program new tire sensors. Delaying repairs could lead to complete bearing failure and unsafe driving conditions. A proper diagnosis at a qualified shop is essential to confirm these issues, as the symptoms you describe match what I experienced before the repairs.
