Last service was at 171177 KM. The sunroof reset procedure suggested didnt work in my case. I tried holding the switch but got no response from the sunroof system at all. No clicking or motor sounds when attempting operation. I checked the fuse and its good, but the issue came on suddenly after parking outside during heavy rain. The sunroof control module seems completely unresponsive. Will have it checked by a professional since DIY sunroof troubleshooting steps havent helped. Looking at booking a workshop visit next week.

Thanks for the additional details about the sunroof issue. On my Q5, I initially faced similar symptoms, complete unresponsiveness after rain exposure. The root cause turned out to be water intrusion into the sunroof mechanism and control module. Since we share comparable sunroof problems, I suggest having the technician specifically check: Water damage to the control module, Drainage channels for blockages, Electrical connections for corrosion, Motor functionality The sunroof troubleshooting in my case revealed water had seeped into the control module through a partially blocked drain. The repair involved: Cleaning all sunroof drainage paths, Replacing the damaged control module, Full system recalibration Total cost was around 450 Euro including parts and labor. The automobile sunroof has worked flawlessly since the repair. Given your symptoms appeared after rain exposure, you likely have a similar water-related issue rather than just an initialization error. Make sure to mention the rain correlation to the workshop, it helps narrow down the diagnostic path for the sunroof mechanism problems.

Thank you for sharing those insights about potential water damage to the sunroof system. Makes a lot of sense given my situation after the heavy rain. The complete lack of sunroof operation definitely points to a control module issue rather than just initialization problems. Will mention the rain exposure when booking the workshop visit. 450 Euro is steep but better than having ongoing water damage. Good to know the sunroof mechanism repair worked out well in your case with similar symptoms. Hoping my fix will be straightforward once they check those drainage channels and electrical connections. Will update once I get the vehicle sunroof diagnosed and repaired next week.

As someone with moderate experience working on Audis, I faced a similar sunroof system failure on my 2013 Audi Q5. The symptoms were identical, complete sunroof operation failure and an initialization error message. After some unsuccessful sunroof troubleshooting attempts, I took it to a workshop where they performed a full sunroof calibration. The issue was resolved through coding of the control module. The entire process took about an hour and cost 75 Euro. For proper automobile sunroof diagnosis, could you share: Have you checked the fuse? Does the sunroof make any noise when trying to operate it? Did this happen suddenly or gradually? Have you recently had your battery disconnected? Sometimes these sunroof control issues can be triggered by power interruptions or system glitches. The calibration process basically resets and relearns the sunroof positions, which often resolves initialization errors. Before booking a workshop visit, try this basic reset: 1. Press and hold the sunroof switch in the close position for 20 seconds 2. Release and wait 5 seconds 3. Press and hold again for 20 seconds If this doesnt work, professional diagnostic equipment will likely be needed to properly reset the system.
