Hey, my Q2 now has 187,654 km on the clock. The engine variant is the 2.0 TDI. I did my last service about 6,000 km ago. Looking forward to more tips and advice. Thank you in advance! Best regards!

Hey, thanks for the additional information! With the 187,654 km and the 2.0 TDI, you've already got quite a lot of mileage under your belt. With this number of kilometers and the symptoms described, I would actually strongly suspect the EGR valve, especially because the exhaust smell and the problems at idle are very typical signs. I had roughly the same case with my Q2 at a similar mileage. In my case, the EGR valve was not only cleaned, but replaced immediately, as it was quite sooty and jammed. After the repair, the difference was like night and day. The garage also recommended that I regularly drive a few kilometers on the freeway at higher revs to blow the valve free. Another tip: Have your DPF (diesel particulate filter) checked. Given the mileage, this can also cause problems from time to time, and this also has an effect on the engine performance and the exhaust odor. All in all, I've had similar costs, around 350-400 euros including labor. If you happen to be near an independent garage that is familiar with diesel engines, it might be a bit cheaper. Hope this helps you! If you have any further questions or need more details, just get in touch. Best regards and good luck with the repair!

Hey, thanks for the detailed information and the tips! That sounds very much like what I suspect. I will definitely have the EGR valve and the DPF checked. The fact that the problem is so much better after the replacement gives me hope. I will make an appointment at the garage next week. Your experience with the costs also reassures me somewhat, it all sounds feasible. Thanks again for your help and advice! Best regards!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my Audi Q3, 2015 model year. I have some experience with cars, but I'm not a professional. I had the same symptoms: check engine light, engine problems, loss of power, and bad exhaust smell. The EGR valve was also defective or stuck. I took the car to the garage and they quickly confirmed that the EGR valve needed to be replaced. The whole thing cost me 355.0 euros. The repair itself was done quite quickly, and afterwards the engine ran perfectly again. Can you perhaps provide some more information about your vehicle, engine variant or mileage? Then I might be able to help you even better. Best wishes and good luck!
