Thanks for the insight. My car just hit 153327 KM and had its latest service last month. After trying battery charging at home, the issues persist. The voltmeter shows 11.8V with engine off, suggesting a dead battery despite the recent service. The battery is original from 2020, so its probably due for replacement given the age and symptoms. A proper diagnosis would be worth it before just swapping parts though. Has anyone else experienced battery failure at around 3-4 years even with regular maintenance?

Based on my experience with the A5, battery issues around the 3-4 year mark are fairly common, especially in vehicles with advanced electronics. After dealing with my sensor problem, I learned that the original battery typically lasts about this long in these models. The 11.8V reading is definitely concerning, a healthy battery should show around 12.6V when fully charged. The low battery voltage combined with your symptoms strongly suggests end-of-life battery failure rather than a sensor issue like I had. The electrical system in these cars is quite sensitive, and a weak battery can trigger multiple error messages even if other components are fine. Since your charging attempts havent resolved the issue, this really points to battery capacity loss rather than just a charging problem. Key indicators that confirm battery replacement is needed: Voltage below 12V with engine off, Persistent issues after charging, Original battery approaching 4 years, Multiple electrical system warnings Before proceeding with a full replacement, having the battery load tested would confirm if capacity is truly compromised. The alternator output should also be checked to ensure proper charging when running. Total cost should be around 250-350 Euro for a new AGM battery plus programming, significantly less than what I paid for my sensor repair.

Thanks for the detailed replies. After reviewing both responses and my situation, I'll get the load test done first to confirm the battery failure. The 11.8V reading and inability to hold a charge even after charging attempts seems pretty conclusive. Would rather spend 350 Euro on a new battery now than risk being stranded with a complete battery failure later. Its reassuring to hear other Audi owners experienced similar battery issues around the 3-4 year mark. Given my cars age and mileage, replacing the original battery makes sense as preventative maintenance. Will update once I get the load test results and confirm if its just the battery or if theres a deeper electrical issue like that sensor problem you encountered. Thanks again for sharing your experience. Its helpful knowing what diagnostics to expect and having a ballpark cost for the repair. Will schedule the service this week while I can still start the car reliably.

As someone with moderate experience working on Audis, I had a similar situation with my 2018 Audi A5. The symptoms you describe match exactly what I encountered, especially the weak cranking and warning messages. After multiple attempts at charging the vehicle battery, the issue persisted. The workshop performed a comprehensive electrical system diagnostic and discovered the battery sensor was defective, causing incorrect readings and leading to improper charging cycles. The repair involved: 1. Full system diagnostic check 2. Testing the charging circuit 3. Replacing the faulty battery sensor 4. Recalibrating the battery management system Total cost came to 315 Euro, but it completely resolved the battery drain issues and warning messages. Before you head to the shop, you can: 1. Check battery terminals for corrosion 2. Measure battery voltage if you have a multimeter 3. Look for any obvious signs of electrical drain To provide more specific guidance, could you share: Current battery age, Whether you have had any recent electrical upgrades, If the car sits unused for extended periods, Any additional warning messages you see This would help determine if your situation matches what I experienced with the sensor issue.
