Thanks for sharing your experience with the door latch repair. Your A4 issue sounds identical to what Im experiencing with my A3. The car alarm started acting up recently too, which makes sense if its related to the door sensor problem. Do you remember roughly how much you paid for the complete repair? Also curious if youve had any other automatic locks or electrical issues pop up since getting it fixed?

Great news, had the repair completed last week and the faulty door contact signal is completely resolved. The mechanic found and fixed a damaged cable connection at the door switch, which was causing the electrical issue with the locking system. Total cost came to 95 Euro for the repair, which was much less than I expected based on initial concerns about needing a full door sensor replacement. Since fixing the connection, both the door locks and alarm system have been working perfectly. No other electrical problems have shown up. This kind of repair tends to be cheaper when its just a wiring issue rather than needing to replace the entire door sensor unit. Would recommend having your mechanic check the wiring connections first before assuming you need more extensive repairs. The car hasnt shown any other automatic lock problems since the fix. Just make sure whoever works on it uses proper diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the exact location of any faulty connections in the door switch system.

I finally got my A3 fixed yesterday after dealing with those annoying door lock problems. Took it to a new certified shop that specializes in European cars. The technician found corroded wiring near the door sensor assembly, exactly like you described with your A4. The repair cost 280 Euro total, more than your repair but still reasonable considering they had to replace a section of the wiring harness and one door switch. They showed me the old parts and explained how the faulty door sensor was causing the central locking system to malfunction. The car door locks now work flawlessly with both the key fob and interior door switches. The unusual alarm triggers have stopped too. Definitely worth getting it properly diagnosed rather than continuing to deal with unreliable door locks. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction with the contact signal issue.

Had the same problem on my 2011 Audi A4 2.0T last month. The issue turned out to be a failing door latch assembly with a deteriorated wiring harness. The door sensor was sending incorrect contact signals to the central locking system. The repair required replacing both the door latch mechanism and installing a new wiring harness on the driver side. The original wiring showed significant wear where it flexes between the door and frame. This is a known weak point on these models. While not a safety-critical issue, it needs proper attention since a faulty door switch can lead to other electrical problems in the central locking system. The repair took about 4 hours of labor since accessing the door latch assembly requires removing the door panel and several connectors. Based on your symptoms, you likely have the same underlying problem. The door sensor and wiring harness should be inspected first before replacing any components. These issues often start on the driver side door since it gets the most use. A certified Audi specialist should handle this repair due to the complexity of the electrical system and need for proper diagnostic equipment.
