Active hood fault on Skoda Roomster

I am experiencing an 'Active hood fault' message on my 2006 Skoda Roomster with a gasoline engine. The car has 137202 km. The airbag warning lamp is also illuminated, and the error memory indicates that the spring actuators have been triggered. Considering the symptoms, is it likely that the acceleration sensor is defective? This is a car safety system fault I'd like to resolve.

I had a similar issue with my Roomster. That 'Active hood fault' message is quite annoying. For me, it was also the acceleration sensor. Have you checked the wiring harness to the sensor? Sometimes a loose connection can trigger the system fault.

Interesting, thanks for the tip. When you say 'similar issue,' do you mean you also experienced the airbag warning light and the triggered spring actuators? I want to be sure we are talking about the same manifestation of the problem before I start tearing things apart.

Yes, precisely. The airbag light was on, and the actuators had deployed. It's all part of the collision detection system. Best to get it checked professionally – a faulty sensor can compromise the entire safety system. These modern car sensor issues are frustrating.

Understood. I appreciate you confirming the acceleration sensor suspicion. I took it to a local workshop and they confirmed the diagnosis. The active hood fault message is now gone, and the airbag light is off. Repair including parts and labor cost 315€. Thanks again for your help!
