ABS warning light illuminated on Opel Antara 2013: Possible malfunction of the ABS sensor?

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2013 Opel Antara, gasoline engine, already has 141,206km on the clock. Recently the ABS warning light came on, the ABS/DSC system didn't work and the warning light in the speedometer showed up. A fault was stored, I assume it could be the wheel speed sensor (ABS sensor) malfunction. Had a bad experience with the last garage, so I wanted to ask if any of you had similar symptoms with your car and what the experience was like with the repair? Many thanks in advance!

Hey colleague, I had a pretty similar problem with my 2010 Opel Astra. The ABS warning light came on one day and nothing worked. I thought it was the wheel speed sensor at first, but it wasn't. It turned out that the ABS control unit was defective. This was a pretty serious problem, as the car could only be driven again after it had been repaired. Not exactly ideal. The repair even took a few days because they had to remove the faulty unit, send it in and fit another one. Although I'm not supposed to mention the exact cost, let me tell you, it was no bargain. But hey, the car is running fine again now, so I can't really complain. Hope the info helps you!

Hey buddy, your trouble with the Astra sounds really similar to what I'm going through with my Antara right now. Sorry to hear it wasn't an easy or cheap fix. Was hoping it was just the wheel speed sensor. Can you remember roughly how much it cost to overhaul the ABS control unit? And have you had any more problems since then or is everything running smoothly now?

Hello partner, yes, my Astra has cost me one or two gray hairs. As I've already told you, the repair was no walk in the park. After the ABS control unit was replaced, it cost me about €1000. But you know what? It was totally worth it. The car has been running like a dream ever since. I haven't had any more problems since replacing the ABS sensor. As I said, I suspected the wheel speed sensor, but it turned out to be a false alarm. Nephew's mechanic did a great job and corrected the fault. The parts were delivered and fitted in no time at all and I was able to use my car again in no time. I hope your repair goes smoothly too and then your Antara will be back on the road like a kitten. Keep me posted, buddy!

Hey, thanks for the information! I didn't expect it to be so expensive, but as you said, as long as it runs smoothly again afterwards, it's probably worth it. I'll make an appointment with the mechanic and hope that it goes just as well as your Astra. That definitely gives me some hope. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again for your help, it really made a difference. See you then!

Hello! I have noticed the ABS warning light on my 2015 Opel Mokka with 165,200 km is illuminated. Could this indicate a possible malfunction of the ABS sensor? I’d appreciate any advice on how to fix this issue. Are there other potential causes I should be aware of? Thanks!
