Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm feeling a bit better about my situation now. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the sensor replacement and reprogramming? Also, has everything been working smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other quirks with the TPMS system? Really appreciate the detailed insight about the battery life of these sensors, definitely didn't know they had a limited lifespan.
Hey again! Just wanted to follow up on your questions. After my earlier post, I actually got the issue sorted out, took it to a BMW certified shop and yes, it was exactly what I suspected. The total bill came to 280€ for fixing the faulty sensor battery. That's pretty standard pricing from what I understand. And I'm happy to report that since getting it fixed, the TPMS has been working perfectly, no more unusual warnings or error messages on the dash. Such a relief not seeing that annoying warning light anymore! It's been about 4 months now, and the system's been rock solid. One thing I learned through all this, it's definitely worth keeping track of when these sensors were last serviced. Now I've got a reminder set for when the others might need attention, since they tend to fail around the same time. Let me know if you end up getting yours fixed. Would be interesting to hear if your experience is similar to mine. These BMWs might be a bit fussy with their sensors, but they're worth the extra care!
Just got back from getting my Z4 fixed and wanted to share an update! what a difference having a good mechanic makes. The certified BMW shop I went to was totally professional, way better than my last experience. They diagnosed the issue quickly and found that three of my TPMS sensors needed replacement. The bill was a bit steeper than yours, came to 420€ since I needed more sensors replaced. But honestly, it was worth every cent. No more annoying warning lights, and the system's working perfectly now. The mechanic even gave me a detailed walkthrough of what they did and showed me the old sensors. Funny thing, while I was there, they mentioned they'd seen quite a few Z4s with the same issue lately. Guess these sensors really do have a pretty predictable lifespan. I've made a note to check the remaining sensor in a year or so, just to stay ahead of any problems. Thanks again for your help, really made me feel more confident about getting this sorted out. Sometimes you just need that push to go to the right place, you know?
Hey there Z4 owner, I had a similar issue with my 2019 BMW M4 last year. The TPMS warning kept popping up out of nowhere, and the error codes were pretty consistent with sensor battery failure. These sensors typically last 5-7 years, so it's not unusual to see them failing. Had the same symptoms, unusual pressure warnings despite proper tire inflation. Took it to the garage, and they confirmed two of my TPMS sensors were dead (battery depleted). They had to replace the sensors and reprogram the system. It wasn't a major repair, just a maintenance item that needs attention when the batteries die. Not a serious mechanical issue at all, just annoying if left unfixed. The sensors won't affect your driving safety as long as you manually check your tire pressure regularly. But getting it fixed is worth it for the peace of mind and proper tire monitoring. My suggestion would be to have a certified BMW technician check it out. They'll need proper diagnostic tools to identify which sensors need replacement. Hope this helps with your decision.
