Hey, no problem, gladly! I paid quite a lot for the repair, just under €695. Really steep, but they replaced both the camshaft sensor and the camshaft encoder wheel. I had similar symptoms to you with your Espace. Believe me, I was also shocked when I saw the bill. But since I've had my Scénic at the mechanic, it's been working perfectly again. The malfunction of the camshaft sensor was rectified and since then it has been driving like a new car again. Don't worry, it'll be fine.

Thank you for the information! 695 €, a lot of money but if that could be the solution to my problem, I will probably have no other choice... Your Scénic has been running perfectly since then, that sounds good. I really hope my Espace will be similar after the repair. I'll probably take my car into the garage next week and hope it runs like it did on day one. Thanks again for the encouraging words and your help! I'll be in touch as soon as there's any news. I think of you and your Scénic every time I get into my Espace and hope it's running smoothly again soon!

Hey, I understand your concern. I had similar problems with my 2016 Renault Scénic. Severe juddering, the engine ran erratically and the car didn't always start. It then turned out that not only was the camshaft sensor defective, but the encoder wheel on the camshafts was also out of order. It was pretty annoying, I have to say. In the end, we had to replace both the sensor and the encoder wheel. Apparently this is a known problem with some Renault models, so it's quite possible that this is also the case with your Espace. I can reassure you that despite the crappy situation, the car ran like new afterwards. So, cheer up and take it to the garage!
