Thanks for sharing your experience. Your symptoms sound identical to what I dealt with on my A6. After finding a defective engine mount, I also discovered the transmission mount had started failing. Would you mind sharing what the total repair cost was for your mounting bracket replacement? Just wondering if prices have changed much since I had mine done. Also curious if you noticed any other issues pop up afterward, since these vibration issues can sometimes damage other components before getting fixed.

Good news, I got the mount wear issue fully resolved! After seeing a certified mechanic, they confirmed the defective engine mount diagnosis and found a surprisingly simple fix. The main problem was actually a faulty cable connection to the mount assembly, which was causing the erratic vibration issues. The repair only came to 95 Euro for the cable/plug repair, much less than I initially feared when suspecting complete mount failure. No additional transmission mount problems emerged after fixing the original issue. The excessive engine movement and vibrations completely stopped once the connection was properly secured. Since fixing the motor mount connection six months ago, the car runs perfectly smooth at idle. This highlights how mount wear symptoms can sometimes be caused by simpler electrical issues rather than complete mounting bracket failure. Always worth having a thorough diagnostic before assuming the worst case scenario. The mechanic did recommend keeping an eye on the rubber isolators in the future since they naturally deteriorate over time, but for now everything is working as it should with no vibration issues whatsoever.

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies! Just wanted to share how my repair experience turned out. Took it to a well-reviewed shop that specializes in German cars. The mechanic found both the engine and transmission mount were shot, causing those nasty vibration issues. The rubber mount between the engine and frame had completely separated, and the mounting bracket showed serious wear. Total repair came to 450 Euro including parts and labor. They replaced both mounts and did a full inspection of surrounding components. The difference is incredible, no more shaking at idle and the error code is gone. The tech mentioned I caught it just in time before the mount failure could damage other parts. Really glad I got that second opinion instead of letting it go. The car feels solid again, like when it was new.

Had the same vibration issues on my 2009 A4 2.0T. The failed mount was causing excessive movement, especially at idle. Initially thought it was spark plugs or injectors due to the rough running, but diagnostic showed the rubber mount had completely deteriorated. The transmission mount was also affected since the bad engine mount put extra stress on other mounting points. When mounting brackets fail, they create a chain reaction of problems. The rubber isolators were torn and oil-soaked, letting the engine shift too much. This is a serious issue that needs addressing soon. A worn engine mount can lead to: Damaged transmission components, Broken vacuum lines, Stressed fuel lines, Misaligned drive belts The repair requires removing several components to access the mounting brackets. The entire mount assembly needed replacement in my case, not just the rubber isolators. The vibration issues completely resolved after installing new mounts. Would recommend getting a second opinion from a shop that specializes in German vehicles. Failed mounts often get overlooked but can cause significant problems if left unfixed.
