Wipers Malfunctioning in 2021 Seat Tarraco Hybrid: Seeking Windshield Wiper Relay Insights

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Wipers don't work properly

Fault stored

Hey all, I'm having a bit of a head-scratcher with my 2021 Seat Tarraco Hybrid (clocked at about 97,130km). The wipers are acting up, got some faults stored, and there's this pesky warning light on the speedometer. I'm thinking it's probably the windshield wiper relay, right? I had a dodgy experience with my last mechanic so I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar - what did your mechanic do and how did it pan out? Cheers!

Hey there, I totally get what you're dealing with! I own a 2016 Seat Leon ST and had a similar issue a while back, so perhaps I can share some insight. First off, it was indeed a head-scratcher. My symptoms were slightly different but the root cause was the same: a defective cable connection. The computer was sending error reports, lighting up my dashboard like a Christmas tree - I'm talking a serious party going on there! So, what did my mechanic do? Initially, they thought it could be a relay issue too. However, after running a proper diagnostic, they found out that the actual problem was a cable connection missing some insulation. This affected multiple systems, including wipers, and provoked those weird warning lights. They ended up patching up the cable and replacing the insulation. It wasn't a terribly big deal but it wasn't as simple as just swapping a relay either. The main headache was actually finding the issue, to be honest. Afterwards, everything turned out fine. My dear ST has been operating smoothly without any problems since then. Hope this helps you out! Cheers!

Hey there, thanks so much for sharing your experience! Definitely sounds like quite the adventure with your Seat Leon ST. It also gives me a good lead on my Tarraco's issue. Sounds like I need to find myself a decent mechanic who can properly diagnose what's going on. Just one more thing - do you happen to remember what you had to fork out for the repair job? Also, has anything else gone wrong with the car since getting this fixed, or has it been smooth sailing? Cheers!

Hey, happy to share my experience! After the mechanic scratched his head a bit, we finally resolved that relay issue with the windshield wipers. Whew, it's been a relief, I can tell you that! As for the cost, the real mischief maker was the cable connection. It was faulty and the mechanic had to fix it, which set me back by 155€. A bit of dough, but hey, you gotta keep your ride running smooth, right? Since then? Smooth sailing, my friend! My Seat Leon ST has been purring like a kitten - no further issues. Hope your Tarraco gets back on the road soon! Cheers!

Hey! Really appreciate your open book of wisdom here. I honestly had no idea that a mere cable connection could throw a spanner in the works like this. I’m sure to bring this up with the mechanic. For €155, it sounds like a reasonable deal, especially if it means no more dashboard Christmas lights and a sound ride! Can't wait for my Tarraco to be purring just like your Leon ST. Thanks again for your time and help. If anything else crops up, I'll know who to ask - look out for my post! Cheers!
