Hey there, Sounds like you had a bit of a tricky situation. I'm battling the same issue with my 2016 IS as well, but I'm more leaning towards it being a faulty wiper relay. Your case with the defective wiper wiring harness has me curious though. Gotta ask, do you recall how much you ended up shelling out to get this fixed? And, hopefully, nothing else popped up after they sorted the wiper issue? Cheers!
Hey again, Didn't see your follow-up earlier. Yeah, it was a touch tricky, but I got it sorted in the end. The defective cable connection cost me around 155€ to fix, which wasn't too much of a shocker in the grand scheme of car repairs. Oh, and since that mechanic visit, I've no longer been dealing with the annoying wiper relay issue. Turns out it was part of the whole mess, but now that the faulty wiring has been fixed, all's well that ends well! So, put your concerns aside. Get your car into the shop and let them work their magic. Keep me updated! Cheers!
Hey there, Thanks for getting back and also for sharing your experience with me, really appreciate it. Your story does make a whirl of sense and has put my mind at ease a touch. Heard a lot about faulty wiring harnesses but never thought it would hit me. Guess, cars never cease to surprise you, right? The price you quoted seems fair too, considering it could've been more expensive had it been the motor. I'll take your advice, will get my vehicle checked by a reliable mechanic, hope it goes smoothen out soon. But yeah, once it gets sorted, I'll give you a heads up. Cheers!
Hey! Had a similar problem on my 2019 Lexus IS Hybrid a while back. Sounds like you're in the same boat. What you're describing reminds me of when I had a problem with a defective cable connection, not necessarily the wiper relay. Last time I was at the repair shop, I found out the wiper motor wasn't receiving power due to the defective wiper wiring harness. It was the harness that connects the wiper motor to the rest of the electrical system causing the issue, not the motor itself. The thing is, it wasn't a tiny issue since wipers are pretty important especially when you've got inclement weather or dirt messing with your windscreen. I think the mechanic did a pretty good job though. Took the time to diagnose it, found the harness fault, swapped the dodgy part out for a new one, problem sorted. Hope that helps. Reckon you should get your ride to a trusted technician and have it checked out. Best of luck! Cheers.
