Wiper and Headlight Cleaner Malfunction in '13 Nissan Wingroad: Possible Switch Issue?

Headlight cleaning system without function

|

Wipers don't work properly

Hey folks! Got a quick one for you. Got a '13 Nissan Wingroad, gasoline, with about 84k KM on it. The wipers aren't doing their thing and headlight cleaners aren't working either. Last mechanic trip wasn't so hot, so I'm thinking it could possibly be a windshield wiper switch issue. Sound familiar to any of you? Any advice or similar experiences at the mechanic would be super helpful! Cheers!

Hey there, Got similar problem with my '10 Nissan Sylphy, just about around the 80K KM mark as well. Totally spot on, it was indeed the steering column switch cable. It controls both wiper and headlight cleaners. The mechanic had to replace the cable connection for it. Just a heads up, it's not a trivial fix. The steering column had to be partially disassembled to get into the switch. Quite a job if you ask me! Don't worry too much though, as long as you got a skilled mechanic, you'll be back on the road in no time. Good luck!

Hey! Thanks for the quick response. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's had to deal with this. Sounds like a fairly hefty job though! Just curious, do you remember roughly what the damage was to the old wallet for this fix? Also, have you had any more problems pop up since then, or has it been smooth sailing? Appreciate the info! Cheers!

Hey! You're welcome. Yeah, it was indeed a bit of a doozy. If memory serves me right, I shelled out about 155€ to get the Steering column switch cable connection fixed. Not exactly peanuts, but manageable if you've budgeted for it. As for how things have been since then, no more problems, thanks for asking! The windshield wiper switch issue was sent packing after my mechanic's visit. It's been smooth sailing (or should I say smooth driving) after that. Hope that eases your mind a bit! Keep the rubber side down, my friend! Cheers!

Hey! Ah, gotcha. A little on the steep side, but if it solves the issue, then it's a worthy investment. Plus, good to hear that no new problems cropped up after the fix. Maintenance is a necessary evil, after all. I'll definitely share this with my mechanic and get the switch checked out. Thanks a bunch for your help! Appreciate you sharing your experience. 'Til next time, safe driving! Cheers!
