Windshield wipers of the Opel Antara from 2009 do not work properly in the rain

Wipers don't work properly

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my Opel Antara from 2009 with a gasoline engine and 123,990 km mileage and hope that you might be able to help me. My windshield wipers don't work properly when it rains. I suspect that it is somehow related to the rain/light sensor. Have any of you had similar experiences and can possibly give me a tip on how to fix this? Unfortunately I had no luck with the garage last time, so I wanted to see what your experiences were. Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2012 Opel Cascada, the bubbling under the windshield gel pad was actually a serious issue and affected the rain light sensor which in turn affected the correct operation of the wipers during rain. The solution for me was ultimately to change the gel pad and the sensor had to be recalibrated. Although it was quite a hassle for me, the problem was solved afterwards. Hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for your reply! That sounds like a similar situation to the one I'm currently struggling with. Can you remember approximately how much it cost you at the time and were there any other problems with the sensor or windshield wipers afterwards? Greetings!

Hello, sure, I can still remember it well. So, to fix the problem with the bubbles forming under the gel pad on the windshield, I spent a total of around 62.5 euros with my mechanic. Since then, the malfunction of the rain/light sensor has disappeared and the windshield wipers have worked perfectly again. So don't worry - once everything has been repaired, there should be no more problems. Greetings back!

Hello, thank you very much for your feedback and help, this is really very useful! Your information has helped me a lot and I'm a bit more reassured now. This definitely sounds like something I should tackle. I'm hoping that the repair on my car won't cost more than 62.5 euros either - that would be a real bargain. I will definitely make an appointment with the garage and get the gel pad issue addressed. Thanks again for the quick reply and the useful advice! Have a nice day!
