Hello, don't worry, you are definitely not alone with such problems. It cost me around 155 euros to repair the defective cable connection on the steering column switch. It's quite a lot of money, but I think it's better than constantly having problems with the windshield wipers and the headlight system. And to answer your second question: No, since the windshield wiper switch was repaired, there has been no further damage. Everything runs as it should. So keep your head up and get it checked.
