Hey, thanks for the quick reply and the bloody reassurance you've given me. It does sound very similar, except that I've also noticed brake noise in the rain. I'll definitely take your advice and get another mechanic to do a thorough diagnosis. Sounds like you were pretty lucky with yours back then! Do you remember how much the spook with the control unit cost you back then? And did anything else go wrong afterwards or has everything been running smoothly ever since?

Hey, I'm glad I was able to help you a little! Regarding your question, replacing the ABS control unit was indeed expensive fun. I left around €1000 there, but it was worth it in the end. A faulty control unit like that is a really dangerous thing, so I was glad it was done. And another thing, since my visit to the mechanic, my brakes have been working normally again. Changing the worn brakes really worked wonders. So, don't worry too much about that! Since then, the bike has been running like clockwork without a murmur. As you know, it's better to go to the mechanic once too often than once too little. Keep me up to date!

Man, I tell you, you really helped me a lot with your experience report! 1000 € is a hefty sum, but safety comes first - that's for sure. The important thing is that everything is in perfect order again and that no further repairs have been imposed on you. I hope I'm just as lucky. I probably have no choice but to go to the mechanic and have the whole thing checked. Keep your fingers crossed that it won't be quite as expensive for me and that I'll get away with it just as easily as you did. I'll keep you posted on how it goes. Thanks again for your comments and advice!

Hi mate, I had a similar problem with my 2016 Ford Focus. The warning light in the speedo came on and it turned out to be the ABS control unit. Apparently it's very rare for this part to be faulty, but that's what happened to me. First step to the solution was a thorough diagnosis of the brake systems, including all sensors and control units. After a long check, the mechanic confirmed the defect in the ABS. Ultimately, it ended up with a replacement of the control unit, which was the solution to my problem. It was definitely serious because both braking function and vehicle stability depend heavily on this component. Uneven or excessive brake force distribution can cause a vehicle to skid or cause instability when braking hard in corners or on wet roads. So if you have similar symptoms, have your vehicle checked by a trustworthy mechanic. Hopefully your problem will be solved quickly. Keep me posted, will you?
