Weak Battery Issue in 2013 Dacia Sandero: Advice Needed

Dim or flickering lights

Weak battery when starting the engine

Hey everyone, I'm having some trouble with my 2013 Dacia Sandero, Gasoline engine and its got about 7671 KM on it. Lately I've noticed it's got a weak battery on startup, dim lights, and they even flicker a bit. I'm thinking the battery might be severely discharged. Had a bad run-in with a mechanic last time, so just wanted to reach out and see if any of you faced a similar issue? Any advice on how to deal with this? What was your experience like with your mechanic? Cheers!

Hey there, I feel you on this. Had a similar issue with my 2010 Dacia Logan MCV, Petrol, not too long ago. The symptoms sounded dead-on similar; the weak on start, flickering lights, all making me fear a major issue. Turned out, it wasn't a bad battery but a defective control unit. This unit controls a bunch of systems in the car, including the charging of the battery, hence the lights issue. So, the problem was pretty serious till it got sorted because you don't want it causing other problems or even shutting your car down unusually, trust me on that! After avoiding a shady garage from a previous bad experience, I found a cracking team who managed to diagnose and rectify the situation swiftly. They had to replace the control unit with a new one. The process was quick and the car has been smooth ever since. So, that might just be your issue but best to get it properly diagnosed. Find a reliable garage and mention these specific issues, it should set them on the right track. Good luck!

Hey! Sounds like you really dodged a bullet there with your Logan. I'm praying it's not a control unit issue for me. Anyway, remember how much you forked out for the fix? And has your Logan been behaving itself since? Any other unexpected gremlins pop up? Cheers for the advice!

Hey! Yes, it was a touch-and-go moment there with my Logan but got it sorted finally! For the control unit replacement, it set me back by around €600. Not a small sum, but definitely a relief considering the potential havoc a busted control unit could wreak! And you'd be surprised, but since the garage fixed it, no more battery troubles or mysterious flickering lights! It's like my car came back from a spa retreat, all rejuvenated and raring to go. So, no gremlins as of yet, fingers crossed! Getting that issue correctly diagnosed and fixed is really important. Trust me, the gleam in your Sandero's headlights will thank you for it! Good luck with it!

Wow, €600! That's a harsh pinch on the wallet, but from what you describe, it definitely sounds like it's worth every cent. I'll remember to look for a mechanic who's as solid as this one that sorted out your Logan. Hopefully, my Sandero's ordeal won't be as big of a challenge. Thanks a heap for the advice. Keeping my fingers crossed indeed! I'll be heading to the garage with a more relieved heart now. Time to get the spark back in my Sandero's headlights! Cheers!
