Weak battery and flickering lights on the Opel Combo 2017 - sharing experiences and solutions

Hey guys! My 2017 Opel Combo has been causing stress recently. With just under 200,000 km on the clock, the battery almost goes to its knees when starting and the lights flicker or go dark. The whole thing is pretty annoying. My first guess is the emergency battery of the emergency call system. Have any of you experienced similar problems? How was it with your mechanic - were they able to help? I'm grateful for any tips.

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Opel Combo with nearly 200,000 km is experiencing a weak battery and flickering lights, suspected to be caused by a faulty emergency battery in the emergency call system. A similar issue was resolved in a 2014 Opel Astra by replacing the emergency battery, which restored system stability and prevented potential driving hazards. The suggested solution is to have the emergency battery checked and possibly replaced by a mechanic, as this has proven effective in similar cases.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi buddy! I can relate to your problems as I had similar symptoms with my 2014 Opel Astra. It actually revolved around the emergency battery. They had to completely replace it in the workshop. In my case it was definitely not a small problem, because if the emergency battery is faulty, the car can suddenly lose system support when driving, which of course can be extremely dangerous. Can the guys at the garage help? Sure, they've done it many times before. Don't worry, they'll sort it out!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply, buddy! I'm really pleased to hear that the guys at the garage got your Astra problem under control. Do you remember what you had to pay for it in total? And have you had any other surprises since then?

Hey, no problem, that's the beauty of forums like this - we drivers stand together! As for the price, I had €110 on the invoice. That was entirely for fixing the battery problem with the emergency battery. Since I went through the story with the mechanic, there have been no more surprises with my Astra. The problem with the emergency battery was definitely solved. I hope your worries are a little less now. Let me know when everything is running smoothly again!

Thanks, buddy! Your words really put my mind at ease. I didn't realize that replacing the emergency battery could be so inexpensive. It's great to know that you haven't had any further problems since. I'm going to take it to my mechanic tomorrow and hopefully have the same positive experience. I'll let you know how it goes. Take care and thanks again for the help!
