Weak battery and flickering lights on a 2021 Renault Captur Hybrid

Weak battery when starting the engine

Dim or flickering lights

Hey guys, I'm really having problems with my 2021 Renault Captur Hybrid, which already has 86118 km on the clock. I haven't been happy with my mechanic recently and now my car is acting up again. The lights are quite dim and flickering all the time and every time I start the engine the battery is totally low. Could this be something to do with the car battery sensor? Have any of you experienced something similar and can report what caused it and how it went with your mechanic? Would be grateful for any advice! Thanks in advance!

Hey buddy, I've been in a similar situation with my 2018 Renault Clio and the battery sensor issues are really annoying. It was exactly the same for me, the lights kept going down and starting was a struggle. The mechanic finally diagnosed a defect in the battery sensor microprocessor. It was a bit of a challenge because apparently the battery sensor malfunctions cause the voltage to be inconsistent, causing the lights to flicker and affecting the engine start. They had to completely replace the battery sensors and check and tighten the electrical connections. Had to leave my car in the garage for a few days because of all the work on sensors and wiring and stuff. But after that the car ran like a charm again. Just give it a try and good luck! Best regards!

Hey, thanks for the info! It's good to know that I'm not the only one with such problems. If I understand correctly, you had to have your entire battery sensor replaced and check the wiring? Do you happen to remember how much that cost you? And did it go away after that or were there any other similar incidents? Greetings back!

Hey, yes, that was quite a tangle of cables. The entire battery sensor had to be replaced and the wiring checked. It cost me a total of €315. That's a hefty price for fixing the defect in the battery sensor's microprocessor, but what can you do? But to be honest, things have been quiet ever since. No more flickering lights and starting the engine is no longer a problem. The fault in the vehicle battery sensor was probably the real problem. So, off to the mechanic I would say. Greetings back and hopefully your Renault will remain faithful from now on!

Hey, thanks for the detailed tips! That's a lot of money, but if it really solves my problem, I'll probably pay for it. Your experience sounds very encouraging and I hope my mechanic can do the same. Then I can finally drive again with a relaxed feeling. Greetings back and thanks again for your help!
