Sure, no problem! I had to pay €290 to have the defective battery repaired. That sounds like a lot of money at first, but since then my Toyota has been running like clockwork again. The overvoltage detected in the vehicle was also quickly rectified, there was no big drama. So since the visit to the garage, everything has really been fine again. No further problems so far. So cheer up, I'm sure you'll be fine too!

Thank you very much for your helpful reply! The €290 is no small amount, but it's good to hear that your Toyota has been running smoothly again since then and no further problems have occurred. I'm a bit more reassured now and will take the car to the garage tomorrow. Fingers crossed that it's just the battery for me too. But you know what they say - what doesn't kill, hardens! Thanks again for the tips and happy driving to you!

Hey, sounds a lot like my experience with my 2014 Toyota Corolla, gasoline, had the exact same symptoms: Engine starting, low battery, flickering lights. It was actually a faulty battery. The garage had to remove the old battery and install a new one. It wasn't pretty, but the car was immediately back in shape and running like a dream. Not a major disaster, if you ask me. Make sure the new battery has the right specs for your Avensis. Good luck, buddy! It'll be fine.
