Water valve problems in Seat Leon Diesel 2014: heating and cooling insufficient and mirrors do not defrost

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Mirror doesn't defrost

Hey guys, I have a strange problem with my 2014 Seat Leon Diesel. The heating and cooling don't seem to have enough power and the mirror doesn't defrost. I suspect that something is wrong with the water valve of the cooling circuit. Have you had any experience with a problem like this and could you point me in the direction of possible solutions? How did the garages solve this in your cases? It would be great if you could share your experiences with me. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have a similar problem with my 2012 Seat Ibiza. I have some experience with cars, but I'm not an expert. My car also had a faulty water valve. I had it repaired at my garage. They replaced the old water valve and fitted a new one, and the replacement cost 280 euros. Since then, everything has been working perfectly. Which model do you have exactly and what year of manufacture? I could help you better with this information. Great, thank you in advance!

Hello, thanks for your reply! Well, that sounds like an option. My Leon is from 2014 and has now covered 165812 km. It's also been a while since the last service, so maybe I should take it in for a check-up again. Hope that helps you!

Hey, thanks for the info! Since we have almost the same year of manufacture, I suspect that the problem with the water valve is similar. I would definitely recommend taking your car to the garage to have everything checked properly, especially if it's been a while since the last service. On my Seat Ibiza, replacing the faulty valve completely fixed the problem and the heater is now working perfectly again. Defrosting the mirror, however, has nothing to do with this. There could be a problem with the heating unit in the mirror itself. These can usually be replaced separately. So it's best to ask your garage. It will certainly cost a few euros, but safety first. Good luck and hopefully the problem will be solved soon!

Hi, thanks for your detailed reply! That makes sense, especially with the heater in the mirror, that's something I hadn't thought about. I will definitely make an appointment with the garage straight away and hopefully they can fix the problem without me having to break my piggy bank. Thanks again for your help and quick response, I really appreciate it! All the best and safe driving ahead. See you next time!

Hey there! It sounds frustrating. I haven't had this issue, but it could be the water valve or thermostat. Have you checked for any coolant leaks or issues with the heater core? Anyone else have similar experiences or solutions to share?

While it's possible that the issue could be related to the water valve or thermostat, it's also important to check the heater blower motor. If it's not working properly, it could affect the power of your heating and cooling system. However, since this issue could be related to several different components, I would recommend having a professional mechanic diagnose the problem to ensure it's fixed correctly.
