Warning lights and airbag light on Ford Maverick 2008: Possible malfunction of the active hood

Hey guys, I have a question about my 2008 Ford Maverick, gasoline, with about 55,084km on the odometer. Recently the warning light in the speedometer and the airbag light have come on. I'm worried it could be a malfunction of the active hood. Has anyone here ever had a similar problem and could share their experience with me? How did it go with your mechanic? Last time I had a not so great experience, maybe you can help me. Many thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

A 2008 Ford Maverick owner is experiencing warning lights on the speedometer and airbag, suspecting a malfunction of the active hood. Another person shared a similar issue with their Ford Kuga, which was resolved by replacing a faulty acceleration sensor system. The solution was effective, and no further problems occurred, suggesting that addressing the sensor issue could resolve the warning lights concern.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I had the same problem with my 2011 Ford Kuga. I had the feeling it was the acceleration sensor. The same indicator lit up on the speedometer and I was worried about the airbag light. The garage then replaced the entire sensor system because the old one was really faulty. So it was something serious. But everything was fine again afterwards. Hope that helps you.

Hey, thanks so much for your quick reply! Your experience sounds pretty similar to what I'm going through right now. Can you remember how much the repair cost you? And has anything similar happened again since then or was everything fine? Thank you in advance!

Hey, no problem, you're welcome! I paid €315.0 to repair the acceleration sensor at the time. That was quite a hefty sum, but I haven't had any more problems since then - so it was worth it. And the active hood, which I had checked by the mechanic, hasn't spun since. So everything went perfectly and I was satisfied with the workshop's work. Keep your chin up and I hope your car is back in shape soon!

Wow, those are pretty hefty amounts, but if it helps, then it helps. In any case, I am now reassured to know that there were probably no further problems afterwards. So I think the investment might be worth it. I'll probably take my car to the garage and hope that I have a positive experience. Thanks again for your help and good wishes!
