Warning light in the speedometer: Possible problems with the brakes on a 2007 Opel Tigra

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2007 Opel Tigra with a gasoline engine. The warning light in the speedometer has come on and I suspect that the brakes may be worn out. Have any of you experienced the same problem before and can give me any specific tips to narrow down the problem? I would like to know how the garage fixed the problem and what your experiences are. I look forward to your advice!

Hey, sure, maybe I can help a bit here. I drive a 2006 Opel Vectra, which is practically the same thing in size. I'm certainly no expert, but I still know a bit about cars. I once had a similar warning on my speedometer and it turned out that the DSC/ABS control unit was faulty, which is really very rare. I went to the garage straight away. It cost me 1000 euros to fix the problem, which was quite a shock. Can you tell me a bit more about your car? What kind of engine is in it? Have you had any repairs done recently? The more information you give me, the better I might be able to help you.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply! My Tigra has a 1.8 gasoline engine and the last time I had an inspection done was at 155298 km. I haven't done any special repairs recently. Everything has been running fine so far. Hopefully it's not as expensive a problem as your DSC/ABS control unit. I'm going to the garage tomorrow and then we'll see what happens. I'll keep you up to date. Thanks again!

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for! It's really hard to say what the problem could be without seeing the car in action, but based on your description I'd say it could possibly be the brake pads. When these are worn, the car often activates the warning light. On my Vectra I changed them at around 60,000 km, but this can vary depending on how you drive. If you drive a lot in the city and have to brake all the time, they may wear faster. I would advise you to have this checked in any case, after all, brake problems are nothing to be trifled with. Even if it's not cheap fun, it would still be cheaper than a faulty ABS control unit. Hopefully that's all it is with your Tigra! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and wait for your news. Have a good trip and take care!

Hi, you really know something about cars! That's exactly what I wanted to hear. I would understand the brakes, I know city traffic too well. I've thought about replacing them before, but so far it's been fine. Your replacement at 60,000 km sounds logical, mine has already done twice that. I'll take your advice to heart and have the car checked at the garage tomorrow. Hopefully it's just a brake problem and not an ABS control unit! I'll definitely keep you posted and get back to you as soon as I know more. Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed, see you soon and always have a safe journey!

The diagnosis returns the error: Brake fluid too low. However, the brake fluid is just above maximum, i.e. enough. The speedometer displays: Driving stabilization moderate. How can I clear this? Many thanks in advance Rudolf Clos

Good day! If the brake fluid level is correct but it still gives the error that there is not enough brake fluid in the reservoir, the sensor on the brake fluid reservoir is probably defective. Have you tried checking the sensor connections or considering a replacement?
