Warning light in the speedometer and possible brake wear on the Renault Talisman 2022

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hi guys, I'm worried about my 2022 Renault Talisman (diesel, 143232 km run). The warning light in the speedometer comes on and I think my brakes might be worn out. Unfortunately, I've had bad experiences with my garage in the past, so I wanted to ask here first: Have any of you ever noticed similar symptoms in your car? How did your mechanic deal with it? I'm grateful for any tips. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2019 Renault Megane. I had the warning light come on, which indicated a problem with the DSC/ABS control unit. This is really no small matter and is best addressed as soon as possible. The mechanics had to connect a diagnostic tool to my car's OBD2 port to pinpoint the fault. It turned out that the control unit was indeed faulty and needed to be replaced. Although it is rare for the ECU itself to be faulty, it seems to have happened to me. I was kindly told that such a repair usually involves replacing the entire DSC/ABS module, which is a lot of work. Fortunately, the mechanics at my garage did a good job and the problem was solved. I hope everything goes well for you, buddy. Have a professional take a look, safety first! Good luck!

Hello, thank you very much for your detailed reply. I'm sorry to hear you had a similar problem, but I'm glad it was resolved well. Your experience will definitely help me with my situation. If it's not too much to ask, do you remember how much this repair cost you? And has there been another problem with your car since then? Thanks again and let me know!

Hi, no problem, I'm glad I could help you! Luckily the mechanic caught the problem with the brakes, they were actually worn out. As for the repair costs, they were on the higher side - the DSC/ABS control unit actually had to be replaced and that set me back €1000. But that's pretty rare for that to happen, so no need to panic! Since then the old Renault has been running like a charm, no further problems so far. Fingers crossed that it stays that way, eh? Let us hear from you what the garage says about your brakes. All the best!

Hi, your feedback is really appreciated, thank you! The amount is quite high, but considering the work and man hours that must have gone into such a repair, I can understand why. It's really nice to hear that your Renault has been running well since then. I've already scheduled my appointment with the garage. I hope everything goes well for me too. I will keep you up to date. Thanks for the good wishes. See you then!
