VW Virtus: Stalling & Fuel Issues Point to Bad Injectors

My VW Virtus 2020 (72922km, gasoline) is struggling with poor starts and keeps stalling when idle. Performance has dropped a lot and it drinks way more fuel than usual. I suspect faulty injectors but had a really bad experience at my last mechanic. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms and can recommend what to check? Looking for tips before going back to a repair shop.

Had similar symptoms with a VW Polo 2017 gasoline model. The rough idle and excessive fuel consumption pointed to clogging in the fuel injection system. After proper diagnosis, it turned out multiple injectors were dirty and causing misfire issues. The repair involved removing and ultrasonic cleaning of all injectors, plus replacement of two that were beyond salvaging. The fuel filter was also contaminated and needed replacement. The whole system required a thorough cleaning to prevent future clogging. This is a serious issue that needs professional attention. Continuing to drive with faulty injectors can lead to: Permanent injector damage, Catalytic converter failure, Further engine performance issues While checking injectors, have them test: Fuel pressure, Fuel filter condition, Spark plugs, Mass airflow sensor Once fixed, using quality fuel and regular fuel system cleaning services helps prevent this from recurring. The symptoms you describe match classic injection system problems. Delaying the repair typically leads to more extensive damage.

I faced this exact issue with my Virtus last year. Your reply perfectly describes what I experienced, those symptoms are textbook fuel injection problems. After fixing it, my vehicle performance returned to normal and fuel economy improved dramatically. Did you track how much the complete repair cost? Also curious if your engine has been running smoothly since the fix or if you noticed any other issues pop up? Important to note that after my repair, using higher quality gasoline really helped maintain the system clean and prevent further clogging issues.

Those injection repairs definitely solved all the performance problems with my engine. The complete fix, including cleaning and replacing the defective injection nozzle, came to 515€. The mechanic did a thorough job diagnosing and repairing the system. Since the repair, my vehicle has been running perfectly, no stalling, much better fuel economy, and smooth idle. It feels like a different car. The emissions are cleaner too, which shows the engine is burning fuel more efficiently now. Good point about fuel quality. Like you, I switched to premium gasoline after the repair. This seems to keep the injection system cleaner and helps maintain optimal engine performance. Regular fuel system cleaning services are also worth considering as preventive maintenance. These injection issues are common in modern gasoline engines, but proper maintenance and quality fuel really do make a difference in preventing them from recurring. My engine has been trouble-free for months now thanks to the proper repair and better fuel choice.

Following your vehicle issues, I finally got my Virtus fixed last week. Found a certified mechanic who really knew his stuff, completely different experience from my previous repair attempts. Diagnosis confirmed exactly what was discussed, clogged injectors and a contaminated fuel system. The engine needed three new injectors and a complete fuel system cleaning. They also replaced the fuel filter since it was badly clogged. The repair cost totaled 680€, but the difference in performance is remarkable. The vehicle starts perfectly now, idles smoothly, and fuel consumption is back to normal. No more stalling issues. Already switched to premium fuel to prevent future clogging. The mechanic explained how important clean fuel is for modern injection systems, and I can really tell the difference. The engine runs so much better now, definitely worth getting it properly diagnosed and fixed by a professional.
