The issue started right after my latest service two weeks ago. A system reset was attempted but the warning lights keep coming back. The error message shows call failure and telematics system error out of nowhere during drives. The malfunction seems worse during cold starts, showing multiple warning lights at once. The service center mentioned potential issues with the control module but wanted 350€ just for deeper diagnostics. Hoping to find someone who resolved similar issues without major component replacement. My workshop manual suggests checking ground connections first. Anyone know the location of these for the telematics unit? Getting pretty frustrated with the constant warning lights.

Based on my previous experience with the same issue on my VW Polo, checking the ground connections is definitely a smart first step. After dealing with similar warning lights and call failure messages, I found the ground points for the telematics system near the control module under the driver side dashboard. The cold start symptoms you describe match exactly what I experienced before getting mine fixed. The fact that it started after service work raises a flag, there might be a loose connection from when they accessed the system. Before spending 350€ on diagnostics, try these steps that worked in my case: Clean all visible ground connections, Check wiring connectors to the control module for proper seating, Inspect cable routing for any pinched or damaged spots, Look for water intrusion points near the telematics unit The car safety system in these models is sensitive to connection issues. When my warning lights kept returning after resets, it turned out the real problem was corroded ground terminals causing intermittent communication failures. Let me know if you want the specific steps I followed to access and clean the connections. Much cheaper than replacing components and fixed my unusual call failure warnings completely.

Thanks for sharing those details about the timing of the issues. The connection to the recent service work is definitely a useful clue. The SOS signal and call failure warnings during cold starts align with what others have reported from wiring issues. I checked my ground connections following the workshop manual steps. Located them behind the lower dash trim panel on the driver side, attached to a metal cross brace. After cleaning the contacts and checking for loose automotive electronics connections, about half my warning lights cleared up. Still getting intermittent telematics errors though, so I might need to look deeper into the control module wiring. The 350€ diagnostic fee does seem steep when the issue started right after service. Planning to have my regular mechanic take a look first since they know the car's history. Would definitely appreciate those specific steps for accessing and cleaning the connections. Anything to avoid major component replacement costs at this point. The constant warning lights are getting really annoying during my commute.

Having experienced similar control module malfunctions with my 2013 VW Polo, I can relate to your situation. With some experience working on VWs, I encountered nearly identical warning light issues. The diagnostic codes in my case pointed to a faulty connection in the emergency call system wiring. After getting multiple malfunction warnings, I took it to a certified workshop. They found that moisture had damaged the cable connections to the control module. The fix involved replacing corroded connectors and resealing the wiring harness. Total cost was 95€ for parts and labor. Since the repair, all warning lights cleared and the system has worked perfectly. To better assist with your specific case, could you share: Which warning lights are illuminated? What exact error messages appear? Are there any patterns when the warnings occur (wet weather, cold starts)? Have you noticed any other electrical issues? This information would help determine if your car safety system has similar underlying causes to what I encountered. The diagnostic codes would also be helpful to compare with my previous experience.
