Thanks for sharing your experience with the crankshaft sensor issue. My Touran is running much better now after the fix. The engine light is off and the misfire problems are gone completely. Did you notice any other issues popping up since the repair? Also, would you mind sharing how much the total repair cost was? Just curious to compare with what I paid, as prices can vary quite a bit for timing-related repairs.

Just checked in to update on my Tiguan situation. Since getting the crankshaft sensor replaced, everything has been running perfectly smooth for several months now. The engine synchronization is spot on, and I havent seen any new issues pop up. The misfire problems completely disappeared after the fix. The total repair cost was 340€, which included replacing the defective crankshaft sensor and realigning the crankshaft to camshaft reference value. This fixed all the timing chain related problems. The price seems reasonable considering the technical nature of the work and importance of proper engine timing. Good to hear your Touran is running better now too. These sensor issues can be tricky, but once properly fixed, they typically dont cause further problems. Just keep an eye on your cam sensor readings during regular maintenance to catch any potential issues early.

I took my Touran to a trusted local mechanic after getting some great advice here. The total cost came to 380€, which included diagnostics, parts, and labor. They found and replaced a faulty crank sensor that was causing the reference value errors and misfires. The repair process took about 4 hours since they did a thorough check of the timing system while they were at it. The engine light turned off right after the fix and hasnt come back since. My fuel consumption is back to normal and the car runs perfectly smooth again with no more synchronization issues. Really glad I got this sorted quickly before it could cause any serious engine damage. The mechanic showed me the old sensor which had obvious signs of wear. They also cleaned the entire sensor housing area while doing the work. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it helped me know exactly what to expect during the repair process.

Had similar symptoms on my 2019 VW Tiguan. The engine light came on alongside poor acceleration and increased fuel consumption. Diagnostic scan revealed a crankshaft position sensor fault affecting the reference value between crankshaft and camshaft signals. The crank sensor was failing intermittently, causing timing issues and misfires. This is a serious problem that needs immediate attention since it can lead to severe engine damage if left unchecked. The sensor helps maintain proper engine timing and synchronization. In my case, replacing the crankshaft sensor resolved the issue. The repair also included cleaning the sensor housing and checking the timing chain for wear, as these components work together for proper engine operation. The whole process took about 3 hours at the shop. Watch for these warning signs: Sudden engine light activation, Rough idling, Unusual misfires, Poor acceleration, Higher fuel consumption, Engine stalling Get it checked soon, as driving with faulty timing signals can cause extensive engine damage. Make sure they verify proper sensor alignment during installation.
