Hey, sure, I still remember exactly! After I went to the garage, the exhaust back pressure sensor on the diesel particulate filter was actually replaced. In total, the whole thing - including diagnosis, new sensor and DPF cleaning - cost almost exactly €1325. The DPF was also heavily loaded. Since then, the car has been running perfectly again. No more problems with black smoke or loss of power. The check engine light has also stayed off. So, money really well spent! If you haven't got it yet, I would really advise you to go to the garage quickly before it gets worse. Best regards!

Hey, thanks for the info! That doesn't sound cheap, but if it helps, it's probably worth it. I've just made an appointment at the garage and will take the Tiguan there as soon as I can. I'm curious to see what they find and whether it really is the sensor, like yours. I just hope that it works just as well as your Passat. I'll then report back on how it went. Thanks again! Greetings

Hey, I drive a 2012 VW Passat with a diesel engine and had similar symptoms to yours: black smoke, check engine light, loss of power and poor fuel consumption. In my case, it was also the diesel particulate filter (DPF), which was completely loaded. The sensor was also affected, as it made regeneration impossible due to incorrect values. The workshop replaced the exhaust back pressure sensor and cleaned the DPF thoroughly. It is definitely a serious problem that should be tackled quickly to avoid consequential damage. Good luck!
