Hey, so after I went to the mechanic at the time, they actually found a functional fault in the EGR valve and repaired it. The cost of the repair was €355. That was for fixing the defective or stuck EGR valve, including cleaning and checking the lines. Since the repair, my Golf has been running perfectly again and I have had no further problems. So it was definitely worth having the EGR valve repaired. I hope this helps you and you get your Tiguan running again quickly! Best regards!

Thank you for the information! That will definitely help me. I probably won't be able to avoid visiting the garage and having the EGR valve checked. I will definitely try to find a better garage so that the problem can be solved quickly and properly. Let's see if it's really just the EGR valve or if there's more to it. But based on your experience, it sounds very much like it. Hopefully my Tiguan will run smoothly again afterwards! Thanks again and best regards!

Hello, I had similar problems with my Golf (2017, diesel). I also had the same symptoms: check engine light on, loss of power and rough engine running. In my case, it was actually the EGR valve that was defective. The workshop replaced the EGR valve. They cleaned the valve completely and checked the lines. The whole process took quite a bit of time because you have to go quite deep into the system. After the replacement, however, the problems were completely resolved and the engine ran perfectly again. If you have similar symptoms, the EGR valve in your Tiguan could actually be the culprit. I would recommend that you have it checked soon, otherwise the problems could get worse. Best regards!
