Thanks for sharing your Tiguan experience. Dealing with a very similar signal lamp problem on my Taos right now. The electrical fault symptoms you described match exactly what I am seeing. Really helpful to know about the corroded connectors and water damage. Makes me wonder if I should check my signal lamp housing for any broken lens or moisture. Did you remember roughly what the total repair cost came to? Also curious if you have had any other electrical issues pop up since getting it fixed?

Good to report back that my signal lamp repair on the Tiguan has been completely successful. After visiting the certified technician, they found the electrical fault was indeed related to a faulty cable connection in the turn signal wiring. The repair cost came to 95€, which covered diagnosing and fixing the connector issue. Since the indicator light repair six months ago, all electrical systems have worked flawlessly. No more dashboard error messages or signal lamp malfunctions. The turn signals now operate perfectly in all conditions. Your Taos symptoms definitely sound similar to what I experienced. Having a proper diagnosis by a qualified technician is worth it, as they can properly test the entire signal lamp circuit rather than just assuming it needs a basic bulb replacement. Would definitely recommend getting it checked soon, as letting electrical issues go untreated can lead to more complex problems down the line.

Thanks for the input. After reading about the Tiguan repair experience, I took my Taos to a certified VW workshop. Turned out water had gotten into the turn signal assembly causing an electrical fault. The technician found a crack in the signal lamp housing and corrosion on the wiring connector. Total repair came to 220€ including new weatherproof connectors and indicator light assembly. More than expected but worth fixing properly. Been a week since the repair and no more dashboard errors or signal lamp issues. The turn signals work perfectly now. Glad I got it properly diagnosed instead of attempting a basic lamp replacement myself. Really appreciate the advice about not letting electrical problems linger. Definitely learned my lesson about addressing these indicator light issues early before they cause bigger problems.

Had the same electrical fault issue on my 2018 VW Tiguan. The turn signal malfunction started similarly with dashboard errors and inconsistent signal lamp operation. The root cause turned out to be corroded connectors in the main wiring harness leading to the turn signal module. Water had seeped through a deteriorated grommet near the firewall, causing connection issues. The broken lens cover on one signal lamp also contributed to moisture infiltration. The repair involved: Replacing the damaged wiring harness section, Installing new weatherproof connectors, Updating the body control module software, Replacing both front signal lamp assemblies due to internal moisture damage This was definitely not a simple bulb replacement job. The automotive lighting system needed specialized diagnostic equipment to properly identify all affected components. While this repair took significant labor hours, catching it early prevented more extensive electrical system damage that could have affected other vehicle systems. Would recommend having a certified technician diagnose the exact issue, as DIY attempts could potentially cause more problems with modern vehicle electronics.
