Thanks for sharing your experience. After checking under load, my battery is showing 11.2V. The scan also showed error code 01308 which apparently relates to the power supply module. Last service was just 2 weeks ago at 50812km and they did not mention any battery issues during the inspection. I will have the battery and charging system properly tested before looking into the window motor or window controls. Will keep the thread updated once I know more about the root cause. Good to know about the window initialization procedure being needed after battery work.

Thanks for the update on the voltage readings. Those numbers are nearly identical to what I was seeing on my Tiguan (11.2V vs 11.0V). The error code 01308 further confirms this is likely a power supply issue just like my case. Even though your service was recent, battery issues can develop quickly, especially in modern cars with high electrical demands. The window regulator initialization errors and non-responsive power window controls are classic symptoms of a weak battery in these VWs. When I got my battery replaced, the shop had to: 1. Install the new battery 2. Program it to the vehicle management system 3. Perform a basic window initialization sequence for all door panels The total repair cost was about 290€ which included the AGM battery, programming, and window reset procedure. After the fix, all window motors and controls worked flawlessly again. Based on your matching symptoms and error codes, I would bet you are dealing with the same root cause. Let us know what you find after having the battery system checked.

Based on the voltage readings and error code, I am now confident this is indeed a power supply issue similar to what you experienced with your Tiguan. The 11.2V reading under load matches the symptoms, and error code 01308 pointing to the power supply module really connects the dots. While our recent service did not flag any battery concerns, I understand these issues can develop quickly in modern vehicles with complex electronics. The fact that all power window controls stopped working simultaneously, combined with the initialization errors, matches the pattern of a failing battery rather than multiple window switch failures. I have scheduled an appointment to have the battery and charging system tested tomorrow. They quoted around 290€ for a potential battery replacement including programming and the window initialization procedure you mentioned. Will update once they diagnose and repair the issue. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, saved me from unnecessarily replacing window controls or door modules.

I had a very similar issue with my 2021 VW Tiguan last winter. As someone with moderate experience working on VWs, I initially thought it was related to the window switch or door panel wiring. After basic power window troubleshooting, it turned out the root cause was actually a failing battery. When the battery voltage drops too low, modern VWs can disable various electrical systems, including power windows, as a protective measure. The window regulator initialization error is often a symptom of low voltage, not necessarily a problem with the window controls themselves. Had it checked at my regular workshop and they confirmed the battery was only putting out about 11V under load. After replacing the battery (290€ including programming), all window switches started working perfectly again. The shop had to perform a basic window initialization procedure after the battery replacement. What is the voltage reading on your battery? Also, have you noticed any other electrical issues like slow cranking or dimming lights? Could you share your specific error code? This would help determine if your issue is similar to what I experienced. Before replacing any window switches or door panels, I would strongly recommend having your battery and charging system tested first. These window control issues often trace back to power supply problems in modern VWs.
