VW Taigo Wiper Error: Faulty Sensor Causes Issues

My 2023 VW Taigo shows a persistent wiper system error and the windshield washers stopped working completely. The dashboard light for washer fluid level comes on regularly, but I just filled it up last week and checked the fluid level is fine. Has anyone experienced similar issues with their washer motor or system? Looking for recommendations on what the actual problem might be and what repairs were needed to fix it. Wondering if there could be a sensor issue or something more serious going on with the system. Would appreciate hearing about your repair experiences and costs.

I had a similar issue with my 2021 VW T-Cross last month. Having some experience with basic car maintenance, I first checked all the obvious things like the windshield washer fluid level and electrical fuses. Despite having enough washer fluid, the warning light kept appearing on the dashboard. The windshield washer system completely stopped working, just like your case. After trying the basic troubleshooting steps without success, I took it to a workshop. Turns out there was a faulty sensor in the washer fluid reservoir causing false readings. The washer motor was working fine, but the system was getting incorrect signals. The repair was straightforward, they replaced the level sensor which cost 25€ including labor. Before suggesting specific solutions for your Taigo, could you share: Have you checked if the washer motor makes any sound when activated? Does the warning light stay on continuously or flicker? Have you noticed any unusual sounds from the wiper system? When was the last time you had any repairs done to the washer system? This information would help determine if your issue is similar to what I experienced or if it might be something different.

Had my latest service at 125000km and can confirm the washer motor makes no sound when activated. The dashboard light flickers every few minutes rather than staying constant. The wiper system itself works fine mechanically, just no fluid being pumped through. No previous repairs done to the washer system since I got the car new. Based on your experience, it does sound similar to my situation. Before spending money at a shop, I will check the fuses as you suggested. If thats not the issue, a faulty sensor seems like a logical next step to investigate considering the similar symptoms with the windshield cleaning system. Thanks for mentioning the repair costs, good to know its potentially just a simple sensor fix rather than a complete wiper fluid pump replacement which I was worried about.

Thanks for providing those details. The flickering warning light combined with a completely silent washer motor definitely points toward an electrical issue rather than the sensor problem I had previously. Since your wiper system still works mechanically but the washer motor makes no sound at all, I recommend checking fuse box location F32 first, that specific fuse controls the washer motor in our VW models. In my T-Cross, a blown fuse caused similar symptoms before my sensor issue. If the fuse looks good, the next likely culprit is the washer motor itself. When mine had issues previously, the spray jets and fluid lines were completely clear but the motor had failed. The repair cost for a new washer motor was around 85€ plus labor. Given your car is still relatively new, this should be covered under warranty if the motor has failed. Mine wasnt covered since it was just out of warranty when the sensor failed. Before heading to the shop, one final check, verify all the wiper system electrical connections near the washer fluid reservoir are properly seated. Sometimes they can work loose and cause intermittent warning light issues like youre experiencing.

The symptoms you described match exactly what I'm experiencing with the washer fluid system. The no-sound situation with the motor and flickering dashboard light really caught my attention since thats precisely whats happening with my car. I checked the F32 fuse location you mentioned and found it was indeed blown. Replaced it with a new one and the windshield washer system started working immediately. The spray jets are now functioning normally and the dashboard light has stopped flickering completely. Saved myself a potentially expensive repair bill, the washer motor replacement cost you mentioned of 85€ plus labor would have been unnecessary in my case. Really glad I didnt jump straight to assuming it needed major repairs. For anyone else reading this with similar wiper system issues: definitely check the fuses first before assuming its a failed motor or sensor problem. Sometimes the simplest solution is the right one. Thanks for walking me through the troubleshooting steps. The issue is now completely resolved.
