VW Taigo Blower Dead After Air Filter Replacement

My blower doesnt work at all and the AUC sensor fault message keeps popping up on the dashboard. This happened right after my last mechanic visit where they replaced the cabin air filter. Car runs fine otherwise. Anyone else had similar issues with the HVAC sensor system? Looking for advice before going back to a shop. 2021 VW Taigo TSI, 44925

Had the exact same issue on a 2018 VW T-Roc TSI. The air quality sensor and HVAC controls stopped working after a routine cabin filter change. Turns out the mechanic accidentally disconnected the air conditioning sensor wiring harness while accessing the filter housing. The fix required reconnecting and securing the AUC sensor plug, plus a system reset. While this sounds simple, reaching the connector requires removing several components behind the dashboard. The cabin air sensor and related HVAC components are particularly sensitive to proper wiring connections. This is typically not a serious mechanical issue, but requires proper diagnosis since similar symptoms can also indicate a failed sensor unit. Based on your timing post-service, strongly suspect a loose connection rather than component failure. Key check points from my repair: Wiring harness condition near filter housing, Proper plug seating at AUC sensor connection, Secure mounting of the air quality sensor bracket, HVAC control module connections Would recommend having the shop check these areas, particularly since issues started right after their service work.

Thanks for sharing your experience. My AUC sensor fault was actually resolved last month and it sounds very similar to what I went through. The auto recirculation system completely stopped working after a routine service where they changed the cabin air filter. When I went back, they found the odor sensor was disconnected during the filter change. Did you keep track of the repair costs? Just curious to compare since I had to pay 180€ for the diagnostic and rewiring work. Also wondering if youve had any HVAC sensor issues pop up since getting it fixed?

Thanks for asking about the costs. Yes, I kept track and it was actually much less expensive in my case, just 95€ to fix the cable connection at the AUC sensor. The auto recirculation has been working perfectly since then with no recurring issues. Its been about 8 months now and the air quality sensor system works exactly as it should. The cabin air sensor properly detects outside pollutants and the auto recirculation engages smoothly. No warning messages or sensor faults have appeared on the dashboard since the repair. Sounds like you might have been charged extra for diagnostic time, while in my case they quickly identified the disconnected plug as the culprit. Since this is a known issue during filter changes, most shops should check these connections first before deeper troubleshooting.

Thanks for the input. Wanted to share how my repair went since others might find it helpful. Took it back to the shop last week and showed them all the symptoms. The climate control system was completely dead and that AUC sensor fault message kept showing up. The mechanic found the issue pretty quick, just like others mentioned, the odor sensor got unplugged during the filter change. Total bill came to 180€ for diagnostic time and fixing the wiring. More than I wanted to pay for a loose connection, but at least everything works perfectly now. The HVAC sensor system is back to normal and the auto recirculation kicks in like it should. No more warning lights or fault messages. Definitely learned to ask shops to double check all the cabin air sensor connections after filter changes. Would have saved me a second trip and some cash if theyd done that the first time.
