VW T-Roc SOS System Alerts Causing Driver Concern

Looking for advice on emergency call system errors that keep popping up in my 2023 T-Roc. Getting warning lights and error messages in the speedometer cluster. Car runs fine but these alerts are concerning after a recent not-so-great mechanic experience. Has anyone dealt with SOS signal issues on these models? Running a 1.5L gas engine with 104734km. Want to know if this needs immediate attention or if there are common fixes before heading back to a shop. Any diagnostic codes I should look out for?

The SOS signal malfunction appears frequently in newer VW models. Had similar issues with my 2020 VW Tiguan 1.5 TSI last season. The automotive electronics in these models can trigger warning lights due to loose connections in the emergency call module. The control module often shows error codes starting with B123x series, pointing to communication failures in the emergency call system. The root cause in my case was damaged wiring connections near the roof module where the SOS button is located. Water had seeped through and corroded the plugs. While the car runs normally, this requires attention since it affects a safety system. The repair involved: Full diagnostic scan, Removing headliner to access the control module, Replacing corroded plug connections, Recoding the emergency call system This was not a quick fix as accessing the roof components required significant disassembly. The malfunction needed specialized VW diagnostic equipment to properly reset the system. Consider having it checked by a certified dealership since generic scanners might not read all relevant diagnostic codes for the emergency call system.

Thanks for explaining the emergency call system issues. My T-Roc had a similar malfunction last winter with constant warning messages. After the system reset failed multiple times, the control module had to be fully replaced. The repair resolved all SOS signal alerts completely. Before taking it to the shop I also tried disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes hoping for a quick fix, but that didnt help. Did you keep track of the total repair cost? Also wondering if the issue stayed fixed or if you experienced any other electrical gremlins since the repair was done.

Happy to report my emergency call system repair was much simpler and cheaper than a full control module replacement. The mechanic found a faulty cable connection near the telematics unit that was causing intermittent communication errors. Total cost came to 95€ for fixing the damaged plug and performing a system reset. Since having the automotive electronics checked and repaired six months ago, the car safety systems have worked flawlessly with no warning lights or error messages. The car runs perfectly and the emergency call function tests normally now. Your battery reset attempt was smart troubleshooting, even though it didn't resolve the issue. These modern control module problems often need proper diagnostic equipment to identify the exact fault. Glad we both got our SOS systems working properly again, since it's an important safety feature. Note that not all shops have the right tools to properly diagnose these telematics issues. Using a certified service center with the correct diagnostic equipment saved me from unnecessarily replacing the entire module like in your case.

After dealing with those constant SOS signal warnings, I finally took my T-Roc to a certified VW workshop last month. The call failure warnings were really starting to worry me, especially after my previous bad experience with another mechanic. The technician ran a complete diagnostic scan and found water damage affecting the control module wiring. They had to remove parts of the headliner to access the connections. Once inside, they discovered several corroded wires leading to the emergency call system. The total repair came to 450€, including: Full diagnostic testing, Labor for interior disassembly, Replacement wiring harness, System reset and recoding Since the repair, all warning lights have disappeared and the automotive electronics are working perfectly. Much better experience than my previous mechanic visit. The SOS system now tests properly when I check it. Really glad I addressed this rather than ignoring those warning messages. Having a working emergency call system gives me peace of mind, even though it was more expensive than I hoped.
