Thanks for sharing your experience with the GPS antenna repair. My T-Cross had the exact same problem. The satellite connection would drop out of nowhere until it stopped working completely. Good to know about the common failure rate of these antennas. Since you went through this already, do you remember the total cost for the antenna replacement? Also curious if you had any recurring issues with the vehicle GPS system after the fix? My dealership quoted a pretty high price and I want to compare before moving forward. I am getting a bit worried since the nav keeps showing no signal and I rely on it daily. Plus I want to make sure the emergency features stay functional, as you mentioned that connection.

After getting the GPS antenna replaced on my Tiguan, the navigation system has worked flawlessly. The car GPS now maintains a consistent satellite connection without any signal drops. Total repair cost was 200€, which included the new antenna module and labor for the headliner removal. The fix completely resolved all navigation-related issues. The car navigation system picked up strong satellite signals immediately after the repair, and the emergency call features were restored to full functionality. Seeing your identical symptoms, sounds like you are dealing with the same antenna failure. Looking back, it was worth addressing promptly. The GPS module replacement restored all location-based features that modern vehicles rely on. I have not experienced any recurring problems with the satellite connection or navigation performance in the months since the repair. This repair cost seems fairly standard for VW models, though prices can vary between service centers. The important part is having a proper diagnosis first, focusing on the GPS antenna rather than replacing more expensive components unnecessarily.

Thanks for the input. Just wanted to close the loop on my GPS signal issue with the T-Cross. Finally got it fixed last week and thought I would share the outcome. Took it to an independent VW specialist who immediately checked the antenna connection. Their diagnostic equipment confirmed the car GPS antenna was faulty, just as suggested here. The vehicle GPS system started working perfectly after they installed the new antenna module. Total cost came to 180€ including parts and labor. Much better than the 450€ quote from the dealership. The whole repair took about 2 hours since they had to carefully remove some interior panels to access the wiring. The car navigation system is now picking up strong signals and all related features are back to normal. No more error messages or connection drops. Really glad I checked here first, saved me from potentially expensive misdiagnosis and unnecessary parts replacement. Thanks again for steering me in the right direction with this GPS module issue. Really helped having real experience from others who dealt with the same problem.

Similar issue occurred with my 2020 VW Tiguan. The vehicle GPS completely lost satellite connection, showing the same symptoms, no signal reception and antenna-related error codes. The root cause was indeed a defective GPS antenna. The original antenna had developed hairline cracks from weather exposure, allowing moisture to damage the internal components. This is actually a common failure point on VW models from that period. The repair involved replacing the complete antenna assembly mounted on the roof. The workshop confirmed the diagnosis using specialized testing equipment that verified the antenna was not receiving satellite signals. The job was relatively straightforward but required careful removal of the headliner to access the antenna wiring. This was a serious issue since the navigation system is integrated with other vehicle systems. The faulty antenna also affected the emergency call function and real-time traffic services. A word of caution, some shops might suggest replacing the navigation unit first. Based on repair statistics, when these specific symptoms appear, the GPS antenna is the culprit roughly 80% of the time in these VW models. Best to have the antenna tested first before exploring other expensive repairs. Once replaced, the satellite connection was restored immediately with full signal strength.
