Thanks for sharing those details about the GTI repair. Your symptoms match mine exactly, even down to the check engine light and rough idle behavior. My mechanic also mentioned checking the fuel injectors but didnt think about inspecting the wiring connections to the fuel pressure sensor. Can you remember roughly how much the wiring harness and sensor repairs cost you? Also wondering if youve had any recurring issues since getting it fixed?

Following your visit to the mechanic based on my earlier advice, I wanted to update that the fuel pressure sensor issue has been completely resolved. The total repair cost came to 95€, which covered fixing the faulty cable connections, actually a simpler fix than my GTI needed. The fuel delivery system is now working perfectly, with no more engine stalling or rough idle problems. The repair proved much more straightforward than initially expected since the mechanic found the issue was just loose connections rather than a completely damaged wiring harness like in my case. Since the repair, fuel economy has improved and the engine runs smoothly with consistent fuel delivery at all speeds. No recurring issues have surfaced in the months since fixing the pressure sensor connections. The check engine light has stayed off, confirming the diagnosis was spot on. This common fuel system problem often gets overlooked during basic inspections, but targeting the sensor connections specifically saved both time and money compared to replacing entire components unnecessarily.

Thanks for the helpful advice. I went to a new mechanic yesterday and showed them the suggestions about checking the wiring connections. They found corroded terminals at the fuel pressure sensor just like mentioned. The repair took about 2 hours, they cleaned all connections and replaced a small section of damaged wiring for 120€ total. The rough idle and engine stalling issues disappeared immediately after fixing the connections. Even the check engine light turned off on its own after a few drive cycles. Really glad I asked here first instead of letting them replace the entire fuel pressure sensor. The fuel delivery is working perfectly now and the engine runs smoother than it has in months. No more jerking during acceleration either. Will definitely keep an eye on the connections during future services to prevent any repeat issues. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction and saving me from unnecessary repairs.

Had similar symptoms with a 2015 VW Golf GTI. The rough idle and engine stalling turned out to be due to corroded wiring connections at the fuel pressure sensor. The engine misfire and jerking during acceleration were clear indicators of inconsistent fuel delivery. The repair involved testing the entire fuel delivery system. The mechanic found the main issue was damaged wiring harness connectors leading to the fuel pressure sensor, which caused irregular readings and incorrect fuel mixture. The fix required replacing the wiring harness section and cleaning all connection points. This was a significant repair since faulty sensor connections can cause long-term damage to fuel injectors and the catalytic converter if left unchecked. The mechanic also performed a full diagnostic scan which revealed stored error codes related to fuel pressure fluctuations. Would suggest asking your mechanic to specifically: Test fuel pressure readings at different RPMs, Check all wiring connections to the fuel pressure sensor, Inspect the entire wiring harness for signs of wear, Perform a complete fuel system diagnostic This type of issue typically worsens over time, causing more severe engine performance problems if not addressed properly.
